COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hades is brewed with a rare Belgian yeast strain that gives a complex spicy flavor and aroma. Noticeable hops and medium malt character make it an extremely well-balanced, crisp ale. Hades goes great with a bowl of fresh mussels, crusty bread, and virtually any artesian cheese.

Bottled in July ’07: Pours a sparkling golden with a thin, wispy-lacing white head. Aroma of lightlt sweet, toasty pale biscuity malt with some floral noble hop notes and an authentic Belgian yeastiness. Body starts fairly full and toffee sweet with an earthy grassy bittering hop presence and some doughy yeasty notes before a drier, biscuity finish. A pretty nice and quite drinkable Belgian ale.

Bottled. A blonde beer with an off-white head and a little lace. A lemony yeasty aroma with a little funk. A yeasty peppery hoppy taste. A bit light of body and feels that it needs more oomph and more funk but it’s drinkable enough.

12oz bottle (marked as 7.8%) bottled on 8/02/2010. Pours with a clear golden body (mostly clear) with a minimal and quick to fade head. Aromas of corn (or raw pilsner malt, which my nose sometimes associates with raw corn (dms precursor?)), and strong clove phenols. Some candi sugar and fresh cut grass. Peppery. Taste is clove, peppery, and bready. A bit thin and lightly metallic on the back end. Some vanilla and light banana esters in the finish as well. Light notes of tongue depressor. Kind of ’green’ tasting to be honest. Lively bubbles, medium-dry finish.

UPDATED: AUG 9, 2007 22oz bottle
Good rocky head formation, clinging like spiderwebs to the glass, sitting tall above a clean medium to light golden colored body. Nose: dusty yeast, candy sugar, lemon, wheat, light spices. Balanced up front, not too sweet or bitter - over the middle more muddy yeast but not heavy, flavors of straight candy sugar, wheat and yeast. Some tartness near the finish, more musty as well in the finish. A strong golden Belgian style but comes off as a poor mans Unibroue.

Draught at Falling Rock. Pours clear, sparkling gold with an average rocky white head, mostly lasting, good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, cereal), light hops (herbs, grass), heavy yeast (dough, earth, sweat) with notes of butter and dust. Medium bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation and a chalky finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness; banana estery yeast with grain malt flavor.

Bottle from Capone’s. I love seeing mew Great Divide beers, but this is the second in a row (after Samurai( that I must call a disappointment. Very pale gold pour with an aroma that is malt liquory, with some hopcit, fruit, big grainy malt, and some funky yeasty notes, and a flavor that has hopcitrus, pale malt, funky notes, and even a tad of sake flavor. Not my cup of tea, this.

On tap @ Falling Rock poured a clear yellow with a small lingering white head. Aromas of fruitiness, candy sugar and a hint of spice. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of bread, light spice and a hint of fruitiness with a smooth dry semisweet finish.

Very clear, very palte golden. Large lasting white head. Clean, soft banana, yeasty nose. A close to exaggerated sweetness immediately reminds of bubblegum. Moderately high carbonation. Notes of cloves and nutmeg. Pretty well done. Light, clearly filtered body.

Bottle from acknud. Pours a fairly clear gold color wtih a small white head. Aroma is heavy on the yeast and a grainy malt character. Flavor has some malty sweetness and a hint of yeast..but the flavor is lemony and a bit bitter. Not sure about this one. GD needs to stick to what they know.
