soyorganic (217), Denver, Colorado, USA Jul 7, 2009 On tap, this is a tasty beer! American barleywine-esque. Dark amber color, sweet candy sugar aroma with citrus hops. Taste, I enjoy thick sweet malt notes with the hop bite. The hops seem subtler than was anticipated, but definitely there. I did not notice the alcohol. Pipper (226), Ohio, USA Jul 7, 2009 Poured from bottle into pint at La Cave du Vin. Hard to judge the color of this since this place is so fucking dark but from the one votive candle I have it looks like a medium amber with minimal 1/4 in. head. Lots of large floating yeasty bits. Belgian candi sugar/malt aroma and not as hoppy as I expected. Taste is the same with dry palate and warming finish. Geokkjer (256), Kristiansand, Norway Jul 7, 2009 A huge double IPA .Lots of floral , citrus and pine hop aroma in the nose.Smells wonderful .Caramel and nutty grain/malt flavor . Nice and bitter finish.Hops everywhere. Really nice one mspindler (301), Alta Loma, California, USA Jul 4, 2009 Pours a slightly hazy copper amber color with a small off white head. Aroma is piny and floral with a big caramel sweetness. Flavor is the same, very hoppy but balanced by a lot of malty sweetness. Palate is thick and chewy and it’s neither dry nor cloying. Hoppy and slightly malty aroma. White head. Fruity and hoppy with a crisp and very bitter lasting finish.
2. On Tap at the Great Divide Brewing Company, Denver 12/10/2007
Thick white head. Hoppy aroma. Amber golden coloured strong in alcohol and hoppy with a bitter and slightly nutty lasting finish. Hopcrazy (27), Washington, USA Jul 1, 2009 Darker coppery color than most IPAs. Lighter head with a decent lace. Aroma is citrussy and florally inviting. Taste is the big bang here. Man oh man. A malty sweetness then comes the hops. WOW. Where have you been all my life? LanceUppercut (105), Sweden Jul 1, 2009 A fruity nose of toffee, caramel. It pours a beautifully reddish colour. Taste is sweet and malty. Finish is a bit overpowering - bitter, salty and dry. It’s a good DIPA, but the the style is a bit "over the top" for my personal taste. Hopper (277), San Antonio, Texas, USA Jun 30, 2009 Pours a dark orange with decent head. Aroma is sweet, alcohol, & hoppy. Taste is sweet malt, alcohol, & nutty. Very sweet. If it didn’t say Double IPA I would have thought this was a barley wine. Definitely not for a rookie drinker.
