Rune (2765), Tromsø, Norway May 1, 2009 355ml bottle served lightly chilled in a trappist glass at Bar & Cigar in Oslo. Dense, but modest, off-white head resting on top of partial clear, dark amber body. Fine laceworks on the glass. Smell of smooth, piny hops and sweet malts. Rich hoppy flavour exploding in the mouth containing different kinds of fruity shells supported by caramel malts. Delicious and lingering endnotes of dry bitterness. Very enjoyable, but quite heavy to drink (Oslo, 28.04.2009). GandGKevin (184), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Apr 30, 2009 Aromas of cut grass and pine. Almost like working in the yard without the sweat. Hop flavors evident on the front end. Finishes with a nice malt balance. jimhilt (1664), Bow, New Hampshire, USA Apr 29, 2009 Pours a three finger cream head that fades slowly leaving a good lace. Almost clear amber color. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Grapefruit/pine nose. Flavor is sweet, hoppy grapefruit and pine. Lingering hoppy aftertaste. High ABV is hidden. $4.50 for a 12oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, MA. beerchugger (286), Colorado, USA Apr 29, 2009 I could smell aromas of hops as soon as I cracked the bottle cap! Pours a deep amber with a very attractive thick and dense cream head. And then...ahhhh...the smell of wonderful quality hops! Smells of pine and sweet citrus fruits. Initially, it tastes the same as the aroma, sweet citrus fruits, but then it moves on to more earthy and piney characteristics. Very nice mouthfeel. It finishes wonderfully bitter. A nice DIPA. bblack99 (197), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Apr 28, 2009 22oz. bottle pours a crystal clear orange with only one finger of white head that left a strong lace trail on the glass.
Not a strong aroma, but the flowery hops do stand out. Taste is an assault of hops with a bitterness that lingers on the tongue. Not for the faint of heart, but one of the better IPAs for a fan of the style. DrinkEmUpJones (14), USA Apr 26, 2009 Aroma ofcaramel, nuts, amber. Clear, aminimal head, light sweetness, very bitter with strong floral notes. full body, long finish, soft carbonation, coharahawk (87), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Apr 26, 2009 On tap at Ginger Man. Pour fairly dark orange/amber. Aroma is floral, hops, a little malt, and some mild citrus. Also, a little sweet fruit. Flavor is fairly sweet and syrupy up front, sticky hops, finishes moderately bitter. Has some orange/citrus as well. Very good DIPA, but had the Maharaja the same night and I have to say I liked it a little better. Pinball (2693), Allerød, Denmark Apr 26, 2009 botlte at home. best before not printed by lazy brewer, so i guess if this bottle is 6 years old, and i rate it low, who’s to blame.. great divide... get those dates on the bottles dudes, i bought this bottle 5 days ago but who knows how long it took to get to scandinavia.
