COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hoppier, maltier and with more alcohol than a standard IPA, Hercules Double IPA definitely is not for the faint of heart. Hercules Double IPA is, however, an elixir fit for the gods. A brash but creamy wonder, Hercules pours a deep orange-coppery color, forming substantial lace in the glass. Hercules Double IPA delivers a huge amount of piney, floral, and citrusy hop aroma and flavor from start to finish. A hefty backbone of nutty, toffee-like malt character balances Hercules’ aggressive, punchy hop profile. 85 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

bottle @ home. Pours cloudy deep amber with reddish notes. A spectacular white head, a two fingers high white compact head with a spectacular retention and hefty lacing. Looks delicious! Toffee, nuts, some caramel, pine apple and grape in the bitter-sweet aroma. In good balance but I suspect the hops has been in better shape, this bottle is a couple of moths old. Some annoying sticky alcohol becomes evident as the liquid gets warmer. Big sweet mouth feel. Taste is bitter right on, with loads of toffee and pine initially. Mid-palate has some lemon zest, mango, nuts, red berries, and caramel plus bread and a growing grapefruit character; and notable alcohol flavor. Finishes has some more nutty dryness that tries to conquer the big malt sweetness. Long lasting big bitterness in the end.

Riktigt god måste jag säga. God smak. Fin färg. Bra eftersmak och till en billig peng. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle (22oz): clear amber with smallish head. Medium plus body. The bitterness hits pretty quickly and ends with a metallic taste. Ok, but not my favorite. Was 4.5 months old so not the freshest. Will try again when I find a fresh one.

Bottle. Light amber pour with a frothy off white head. Nose has pine, grapefruit and some herbal notes. Taste has pine, resin, grass and is heavy on the bitterness.

Pours chestnut brown with almost a finger of off-white head. Hop forward nose as expected, but it's not jumping out of the glass. Really doesn't smell like a Double at first. Some grape fruits, orange zest, iron and some caramel at the back. Medium bodied palate with a bitterness that kicks in almost instantly and stays throughout the finish which lasts a good while and is rather delishious with some sweet caramel malts coming through. Good, solid Double IPA, but I'm surprised this beer achieved 10% ABV and still has such a relatively weak malt body. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Floral, citrus, pine notes in the nose. Huge caramel flavor, plenty of biscuit, some tropical fruit, bitter finish. Too sweet & malty for me.

Pours a dark copper color with a fair head and bits of lacing. Aroma of citrus, quite floral with malt sweetness in the background. Taste of pine, bit of fruit and malt sweetness. Nice bitterness and a finish that is quite dry. Medium body, crisp and well balanced. Very enjoyable beer for the style as the hops and 10% ABV are not over powering. Worth checking out.

Probably my least favorite well-regarded DIPA in the world. Nose of chemical pine cleaner, hints of sweet maltiness. Taste follows in kind with a strange sharp note of berries, but I cannot really wrap my head around what it is that makes this beer so off-putting to me. It just is. I hadn’t tried it in years and thought maybe I was just imagining my dislike back in ye olden days, but I still just cannot abide this beer at all.
