NomDeBeer (397), Maryland, USA Mar 14, 2009 Pours a slightly red / copper color. Aroma is sticky with alcohol and hop notes of citrus and pine. Taste is dominated by grapefruit and bitterness. Alcohol is not very prevalent in the flavor profile. Mouthfeel is slightly syrupy - coats the tongue. Carbonation on the low end of the spectrum. Very good DIPA. Probably my favorite IPA, this guy isn’t too different from others other than it being better. It holds a mouthful of flavor- great oktoberfest-like malts and bitter grapefruit-like hops. Definitely a great way to get fucked up. On tap at The Abbey in Miami Beach thefrutigers (100), , Arizona, USA Mar 10, 2009 bottle 12oz: Slightly hazy amber pour with a thin head. Smell of grassy hops with some citrus with some raisin. Citrus and malts, sweet a bitter end. Smooth in the mouth and mildly carbonated. malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA Mar 10, 2009 12 ounce bottle in pint glass. Cloudy copper orange with flat head, lace, and floaters. Piney resiny orange honey aroma. Honey orange toasted toffee sweet fruitiness with nuts and piney citrus medium bitter finish. Full thick body. Mouth-coating piny bitterness. Nothing subtle about this one. A bit heavy-handed. And not fresh enough. cab (861), Denmark Mar 7, 2009 Bottle.66cl. Big hop aroma, to a bit thin malt feel and taste, the hop is in a good balance, with the overall feel of the beer. hophead21112 (110), Louisville (LEWISville), Colorado, USA Mar 3, 2009 Bomber from Bottles in Boulder. Amber pour with a two finger off-white head. A+ retention and lacing. Floral hoppy nose with a hint of caramel sweetness to it. Slight grapefruit. Excellent body and malty sweetness which eventually leads to a bitter hop profile. Nicely balanced. Medium-low carbonation. 9.1% alcohol is well hidden. Excellent DIPA by a remarkable local brewery. FunkyBrewster (436), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 1, 2009 Pours very dark orange almost red with a small white froth. Aroma is very sweet grapefruit and pineapple citrus hops with a slight bit of hop oil but a lot of candy like almost to the point of a barleywine. Flavor starts with a syrupy mellow sweetness along the same lines with the grapefruit citrus hops. Remains fairly sweet into the finish and gains some of the caramel and toffee notes suggested. In the throat some bitter nuts become present. About five or six seconds after swallowing the pine hop resin bitterness really kicks in and lingers. Medium to full body and fairly reserved carbonation. Very nice double that isn’t overly hoppy or bitter. grampageoff (13), arvada, Colorado, USA Mar 1, 2009 Deep amber with almost no head. There’s a ton of mysterious white floaty things in my beer. I suspect this could be a bad bottle, but I’ll soldier on. Nose is hops and a little apricot- way less smell than espected. Taste is lots of hops up front that mellows into a decent malt sweetness. Finishes fairly clean. Mouthfeel is not unlike apple juice, but with a bit of astringency. Not bad. I’ll have to rerate this when I get a bottle I know is 100%.
