COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hoppier, maltier and with more alcohol than a standard IPA, Hercules Double IPA definitely is not for the faint of heart. Hercules Double IPA is, however, an elixir fit for the gods. A brash but creamy wonder, Hercules pours a deep orange-coppery color, forming substantial lace in the glass. Hercules Double IPA delivers a huge amount of piney, floral, and citrusy hop aroma and flavor from start to finish. A hefty backbone of nutty, toffee-like malt character balances Herculesí aggressive, punchy hop profile. 85 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

UPDATED: NOV 15, 2005 Good sized dense and frothy head of fine bubbles. Thick sticky sheet of lacing remains. Light carbonation. Nice hoppy aroma with a bit of roastyness and caramel. Little bit of citrus but the hops dissapate out of the aroma pretty quickly. Needs more big JUICY hops. Color is a dark amber. Nice hoppy flavor with a good bit of roastyness. Thick and sweet palate with loads of malt. More caramel, orange and some spruce. Hides its alcohol very well. Does warm as it goes down. Thick hoppy bitter finish. Honestly, the hops are a little on the meager side and get washed out by the thick heavy malts. This is my only gripe against this beer. Otherwise, a very good double IPA.

Thanks Walt!!! Pours an orange/amber color with a small head and little bit of lacing. The aroma is malty and orange. The flavor is delicious, heavy with orange and hops. Some floral tones in the aftertaste really complete this beer. Feels good on the palate. Thanks again Walt, this is a great beer!

Deep orange color with a small frothy, some legs on the glass leaving head. Medium spruce and cheese nose. Dry alcohol finish. Medium to extreme bitterness with alcohol, coffee and nutty flavors. Actually it reminded me more to a Barley Wine. I guess if you can*t take it you are a wussy - Iím not a wussy :-)

This is my all time favorite. This is the most flavorful, well-balanced IPA Iíve ever drank. Great nose of peach, tangerine, and pine. Beautiful roundness on the palate. Better than Stone could ever dream of.

UPDATED: DEC 14, 2008 [draft at The Old Toad, Rochester, NY] Dark and hazy orange color with a lasting and puffy tan head. Very nice aroma of hops, sweetness and a touch of malts. Lots of hops in the aroma. The taste has a wonderful sweetness to it that gently gives way to the hop experience lying underneath. The finish is slightly bitter and sweet. Very nice and easy to drink.

Poured a solid amber color with a lasting head. Very nice nose on this one, but the hop-levels were almost overwhelming at first sip. Grapefruit flavor with some lemon thrown in to boot. As I kept sipping this beer, the taste settled down a bit, and malty-caramel undertones were noticeable. Still, this felt a little unbalanced. Decent enough though - drink a 22oz when craving some hops.
