Very thick malt nose. Really sticky, sugar nose. Very big hops. The flavor doesnít come with the hops though. There is a good amount of bitterness, but not as much as indicated by the nose. Floral, orange peel, lemon flavors. Good overall. Nice combination of bitter, hop, light citric flavors. Not much malt that I noticed. A bit too sweet.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz. bottle. Amber with a large, rocky, well maintained off white head. Big hoppy nose with a piney character. Great feel with just right carbonation. Smooth malty, caramel flavor that provides the base for the bitter hop flavors that predominate. Clean, dry, astringent finish. The alcohol is really never evident. A keeper.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
This is my favorite DIPA, that I can purchase here in Georgia. The head is big, rocky, and never fully diminishes. Lacing is really good. The obvious citrus/grapefruit aroma is very evident and the hoppy/resin taste matches the aroma perfectly. Itís hard to tell from the tast/mouthfeel that this is 9.1%

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: MAR 23, 2006 Draught at Federal in Durham, NC. Slightly hazy orange-amber color with a creamy off white head. Citrusy, grapefruit hops, alcohol, and taffy dominate the aroma. LOTS of grapefruit. Slightly sweet with a nice bitter hop finish. Very good.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours golden orange with a thin white head that left excellent lacing. Floral aroma is very hopy with smells of grapefruit, pine, and nuts. Wow, this beer is strong! I can tell why they decided to name it Hercules! Huge grapefuit taste that is citrusy sour and bitter. Along with the grapefruit there are also flavors of pine and a sweet caramel malt (could use more sweetness to counter the hops bitterness). Eventhough itís super bitter, it has a good creamy palate that leaves a nice dry finish. This beer is for those who love that citrus bitter/sour bite that comes from eating grapefruit. Definitely a sipping beer.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bright amber-orange color with an enduring thin white head and thick lacing. Aroma is like plunging your nose into a freshly opened bag of Northwest hops; luscious, crisp smells of just cut grapefruit, orange and pine. Initial flavor is a BIG HIT of mouth-puckering high alpha-acid hop bitterness along with the amped up alcohol; dry and crisp. Not bad in anyway (if you like big IPAís) but perhaps a touch more balance with a bit more malt sweetness would be welcome. This may also help add more fullness to the slightly thin mouthfeel. Finishes long, bitter and clean. Lots of punch here. Good stuff!!

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Whoo!! such a strong beer. At first sip, it gives the taste of grapefruit. the hops in this beer is very pungent. for a 9.1% ABV it hasnít hit me yet. The taste fades after the intital shock.
Not for begging, drink with caution

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
another tasty treat shared by richlikebeer. Aroma was nice and piney a touch of nut. Poured a amberish copper with a decent head. Flavor was just as advertised in the nose. Palate was good and finsh was lasted just long enough. Proof that good beer can come from Colorado without all the glitzy marketing.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: NOV 3, 2005 DAMN - that is one good beer. I mean really good. Visual and aroma = perfect scores. Great head and lacing, gorgeous amber coloring. Smelling this beer is almost as good as tasting it - huge piney floral nose. Bitter? Hell yeah itís bitter, but so, so well balanced that you will keep coming back for more. Any faults? Maybe a bit light on the palate considering the overall strong character. Nevertheless, by far the best beer since I officially started scoring at RateBeer.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Huge aroma of apricots, grapefruit and rose. Beautiful dark orange amber color with a creamy off-white head. Quite dry, bitter finish. Lots of alcohol on the palate. Syrupy. Intense. Mild carbonation. This is perhaps the best Imperial IPA Iíve had.
