3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Copper color with a dense off white head. Aromas of green, earthy hops and sweet caramel background. Somewhat "raw" aroma for lack of a better term. Slick and full feel. Full caramel flavors with a later backdrop of citric and acidic hops. Alcohol very well hidden. For some reason this seemed just under some of the premier IIPAs Iíve had.

Minimal head which was gone in less than a minute.dark amber to golden orange in color. My nose took a big hit of hops and grapefuit, really nice.Flavor was almost exactly would you would want the aroma to taste like.Huuuge Hops and grapefruit.Brews like this have moved the Double IPAís up my list as my second favorite behind Imp. Stouts.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JUL 11, 2004 Hazey orange/rust color that faded as the bottle warmed. Avg. head, big hop arom and hints of citrus. The flavor of hops kicks ya in the teeth and then finished with a huge grapefruit on the tongue but bitter taste.Grapefruit became subdued as the beer warmed.I like it better cold. A frickin monster to be bought in quantity and stored.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: SEP 15, 2008 Wow, was this a nice brew. Brilliant orange color with an orange soda head. smelled rather floral hoppy aroma. The taste was incredible. Sooo hoppy, but sooo good. and contrary to heemer below, I thought it was quite well balanced in terms of malt, particularly for an I2PA. Lots of sweetness in with the alphas in this one. Nice mouthfeel with a dry finish. Very good I2PA, had no trouble with the bomber!

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUL 14, 2008 Tried again recently. Sickly thick and relatively sweet. This is still the type of brew I think of when i think IIPA. Thanks hey_kevin for sharing this bomber. There is a lot of hype around this one. I think it is a very solid double IPA. Has a dark red and orange body with a small tan and yellow head. The aroma is grapefruit, molasses and pine. This aroma is crisp and gets your attention. The taste is brown sugar, caramel and oak. A dry finish is very nice. Solid. Lots of malt to back this up. Seemed a little maltier on my second try.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Tried this brew for the first time last night, and I was blown away. I purchased it at Samís Warehouse in Chicago because of the 100 rating, and I was not disappointed. The very subtle, sweet malt beginnings are completely flooded with hops. This may be one of my favorites. The dry hoppy finish lingers in the palate for a long time. Just like the bottle says the hops are present from beginning to end. And then some.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: MAR 31, 2010 22oz Bomber No Date This is one excellent brew. In my opinion it ranks up there with the best California IIPAís. It poured a clear orange tinted amber with a thick full head. The aroma is potent with grapefruit, pinapple and piney hops. Alcohol is also very much present and to an extent detracts overall. I also smell the malt which has a nutty grainy like aroma.Very much like Dreadnaught, and in some ways reminds me of Marin/Moylans and Yulesmith as well. The body is full and smooth. The flavors are hoppy fruity malty alcohol and despite the latter, delicious. This Ale finishes with a cruel bitterness that hopheads will desire. I do. Excellent retention leaves a well laced empty glass. Top 50? If this belongs there so do some other great IIPAís. Thanks to Snowtiger who sent me this sample.Re-Rate 3/31/10 Not quite the gem it was a few years back . Beutiful aroma still yet the body is weaker. Iím following the Souther tier Un-Earthly and it doesít stand up.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz bomber. Orange, clear, off white head. Big hop tea aroma. Seems even to be a nice blend of hops. Flavor is sweet first, with the flavor and bittering hops kicking in and lingering. Mouth feel is a little thin, and this seems to be well fermented. Tastes more like a barley wine to me, but with the overlapping styles of today, what do I know. This is a nice beer for the double IPA fan.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz bottle. Hops in a bottle. Great initial aroma and great initial flavor. Bold, crisp, clean taste that seemed to fade towards the end of the bottle (taste buds getting worn out?). Nice effort, but given a choice, Iíd take DFH 90.
