It is hard to find the words to describe this hoppy flavor. Some hops have different characteristics, and there seems to be a few varieties in this brew, but how do you describe them? I tasted a bit of soy sauce, some herbal bitterness, esters, and just loads of delicious hops. Excellent IPA, up there with Ruination and Dreadnaught as the best I have had. snook91901 (34), USA

Despite my complaints, however, it was a decent IPA with fair hopping and a good body. I just wish the hop boquet was brighter and filled up more of the aroma and the "salty" characteristic was less strong. daniele (1672), Italy

Fragrant citrus of orange, tangerine, and malt. Medium to full body. Flavor of out there hop bitterness with a perfect balance of malty sweet goodness. Finish is pretty hoppy and dry. Great beer for sure. aaronphazel (16), Missouri, USA

with a big head. Hops are present but not so many as I had expected. Smooth and easy to drink with more bitterness that this class of beer usually displays.
Excellent. 944play (65), Santa Rosa, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Dec 15, 2008 12oz in bordeaux glass. Pours copper with lasting off-white head. Lots of chunky hop bits, otherwise merely foggy. Warm, malty nose, barely any hops per style, more AAA than IIPA. Appreciable malt structure with plenty of toasty character and some caramel. Late-hop character is virtually lost. SO NOT a IIPA, but a good beer. Pawola22 (709), Kansas City, Missouri, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 14, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours an extremely clear burnt orange body with a finger-width, very creamy and frothy, beige head. Dissipates slowly and remains nicely laced and swirly. Straightforward aroma of medium floral hops, sweet malts, and a light amount of toasted caramel. More melony than citrus and not very piney. Flavor is sweet and has a quick bite in the beginning. The middle is toasted caramel before ending with a piney and floral bitterness. The piney hops are much more evident in the taste. Some dried fruit tastes. Grows more and more bitter as the flavor develops. Medium bodied, slightly oily, little bit of carbonation, dry and toasty finish. Warming in the finish as well. Overall, a very solid, straightforward beer. Not the aggressive DIPA that I was expecting, but a nicely balanced beer. I enjoy the toasted caramel a lot.
