Gary (352), Buckinghamshire, England Sep 20, 2008 .Fresh to the UK : Its uncompromisingly hoppy. No shit. ;).Like drinking a liquid air freshner. Shitloads of chewey pine needles going the conga with resin and care free alcoholic caramell. hughie (3018), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England Sep 20, 2008 Bright orange amber colour with a white head. Aroma, probably its best feature, began with a herby whiff of minty hop before caramel malts developed. The taste had a fruity melon sweetness in the background. Malts struggled to emerge from the overwhelming hoppiness, To be honest it was all a bit over the top for me. danielcurtis81 (879), San Diego, California, USA Sep 18, 2008 Bottle. Copper color. A bit bitter. Good hop flavors maybe just a touch out of balance. Some good pineapple smells and flavors. Overall solid. andersand (271), Malmö, Sweden Sep 17, 2008 A nice, sweet, nutty caramell monster with a rather harsh bitterness. Has the typical Great Divide signature taste wich is a good thing. Malty, fairly well balanced double IPA. Not the best if you want a plain hop attack but really good as a slow sipper. kosko20 (302), Bemidji, Minnesota, USA Sep 16, 2008 A pure golden ruby, with a beautiful thick, off white head. A nice hoppy aroma of citrus and floral essences balanced with a nutty malt. Flavor is the citrus and piney hops. Mouthfeel is warm and medium bodied, finishes pretty bitter (7 out of 10 on the bitterness scale that I just made up). Overall I like it a lot but something about the flavor holds it back from being a great one for me. MtStateBeer (74), Hurricane, West Virginia, USA Sep 15, 2008 22 oz. bottle. Pours a reddish-orange color with an average frothy off-white head, good lacing. Aroma is caramel malts, a touch of grains, and a buch of hops, pine, grapefruit, and a little fruity. Flavor is very nice, mainly hoppy. Very good malt/hop balance, but mainly a piney hop finish. awiseman01 (318), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA Sep 15, 2008 Updated: Apr 14, 2009Bottle, shared w/ danielcurtis81. Very bright orange. Lots of citrus. Lots of alcohol at first, but the taste improves and the overpowering alcohol taste fades as the beer warms a little. Hop overload hits well. Not a bad double IPA, though not my favorite. JohnQPublic (387), Brooklyn, New York, USA Sep 13, 2008 Draught. Pours hazy orange-amber with a creamy, slightly off-white head. Nose is sweet caramel and citrus, apricot, bit of pine. Taste starts off with caramel sweetness from the malts complemented by ripe apricot, with a citrusy, slightly piney hop bitterness coming through towards the backend, and a nice, mild, lingering bitterness on the palate to combat the massive fruity sweetness of this brew. Palate is slick and syrupy, mild carbonation.
