Commercial Description:
Hoppier, maltier and with more alcohol than a standard IPA, Hercules Double IPA definitely is not for the faint of heart. Hercules Double IPA is, however, an elixir fit for the gods. A brash but creamy wonder, Hercules pours a deep orange-coppery color, forming substantial lace in the glass. Hercules Double IPA delivers a huge amount of piney, floral, and citrusy hop aroma and flavor from start to finish. A hefty backbone of nutty, toffee-like malt character balances Hercules' aggressive, punchy hop profile. 85 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Copper with a fluffy tan head. Sweet & sour aroma, a lot of resiny hops and apricot jam. Full sweet body, shows considerable warmth. Green citrus and floral hoppy flavour, a bit of solventy alcohol, loads of jammy flavours which is kind of nice. Very bitter towards the finish. Overall it feels sharp and serious, though perhaps a bit disjointed.

MMMM, great flower smell off the bat with this. It pours deep, dark golden. A whole plethera of flavor here. Hops, citrus, a little malt and definitely the taste of pine needles. I doesn’t leave the great IPA taste on my mouth that I wanted. Definitely a keeper!

Pours golden amber with reddish hues. Clear with some particulate and medium beige head. Sweet hoppy aroma. Huge burst of hops, dry, tangy, some pine. Some sweet malts to balance but hard to notice after the punch of hops. Great beer for hopheads.

22 oz bottle- pousr a vibrant copper color thats kind of opaque with a decent head that fades to a film on top and laces the entire glass with every sip.. aroma aroma aroma- beutiful boquet of malt and grassy floral hops that just about overwhelms the senses. the taste is of very sweet toffe like malt that is well balanced with a huge "punchy hop profile" that is very full of citrus and some floral hops. the aftertaste is, SURPRISE, hops hops and more hops that just continues to linger in a very possitive way. like a double ipa should be, full of sweet malt balanced by a rediculous amount of hps

Bottled - thanks to Reakt for fetching from Utobeer. A gingery amber coloured beer with a decent whitish head. This is all about the hops, but there are sweet balancing malts as well. Some toffee notes also. The hops in the nose and piney and far reaching. Lovely alcohol. just a delicious beer.

Holy crap - what an aroma Warning: Candyland description ahead... I popped the top and thought: pine tree forest where little mandarin oranges grow and there are fresh flowers, earth and hay all overlooking a caramel waterfall. Damn, this beer is nuts. I let the bottle breathe and noticed butterscotch, maple, caramel and sweet maltiness. When poured, Hercules is copper/orange and a creamy 2 finger buttermilk colored head laces the glass like so much high tide. Even at the bitter end there was a nice clump of foam left in the glass. There were some small translucent particles that hung near the bottom of the glass and bottle. The flavor was sweet and malty with lots of caramel and a little bit of hazelnut. Great bitterness... a kick in the teeth at first, but you’d gladly spit your teeth out just to be reassured that this flavor will last the whole bottle through and it DOES. The full flavored oily assault on the palate has just enough soft carbonation to tickle the tongue and rock out to a chalky bittersweet finish. The 9.1 ABV is well masked beneath the sweetness yet lends its warmth to the character of Hercules.

Excellent. Nicely balanced between the extreme hoppiness and the rich malt. Very, very good.

The aroma is dazzling, so hoppy and yet so flowery - a warm summerday in a field of dark flowers. The appearance is quite run of the mill, but the taste - oh man! Bitter and fresh as an up-tempo goth song. Dig it!
