BMan1113VR (2758), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Apr 11, 2008 Updated: Mar 24, 2009Pours with a large, creamy, off-white head, covering a hazed amber body with some particles in it. Great lace. Good retention. Aroma is ultra sweet, perfrume hops and some caramel or even chocolate malts. Honey and maybe some orange. Very malty tastes, then a bitter body. Spend a long time sipping this one. Has a bit of orange, more of an American barley wine than a DIPA. Orange and light vanilla with caramel and a hint of special B. Thick body, but a bit too fizzy carbonation. Snojerk321 (1919), San Diego, California, USA Apr 11, 2008 22oz bottle. A damn good double IPA. Poured a very murky, swamp water brown orange, with a fairly small off white head.....great lacing. Nose was nose quite as floral as I would have expected, the only reason this beer didn’t score a 4+ in my book. FlssmrBrewAlum (1081), Lisle, Illinois, USA Apr 10, 2008 22 oz. bomber from Binny’s Orland Park poured into a tulip glass. Pours prominent slightly hazy dark amber with very billowy head that dissipates mostly, but still laces my glass extremely well. Aroma is extremely floral hoppy notes and a bit of malt hiding in there. Initial taste is loaded with piney floral hops and overall a big hoppy presence. Not much in the way of citrus in my tasting. Medium bodied. End notes lead the way for a more balanced profile that is a bit sweet and nutty in maltiness. Fairly smooth transition from the two, this is definately a top notch brew. A little bit of a hop shock at first that pleasantly subsides into a more mellow, yet still suitably hoppy (very piney) brew that is very well balanced, especially in the finish. Loved it. bp (452), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 10, 2008 Bottle: pours a cloudy, burnt orange with a thin, white head, aroma of floral hops and citrus, flavor is hoppy and nutty, plenty of hop flavor in the aftertaste, goes down smooth. This is a very good DIPA. BOLTZ7555 (1053), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Apr 7, 2008 Sampled this right after Titan and, although solid, wasn’t double the flavor or double the fun. The copper body is enhanced by a mandarin hue and 1/2 dense white foam. Flavor is a bit more balanced...the malt plays a larger role diminishing the pine aftertaste. A little prettier, a little tastier, a little more alcohol. a slightly higher rating. changeup45 (782), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 7, 2008 Updated: Sep 11, 2009Pours an amber color topped with a relatively thin head but a bunch of lacing ends up on the glass. If you hold it to the light it looks pretty much like orange to me. The aroma is great consisting of piney hops, citrus and floral notes and you get it as soon as you crack the bottle. A rush of sweet hops and pine needles come out right away in the flavor followed by a long gradual bitterness. Malty base provides some stickiness and honey. There’s a lot of hops and a lot of flavor here but it’s also quite smooth and easy to drink. Definitely well done! Re-rate 1027/09. Pours deep amber color, thick head, lots of lacing. Aroma is hoppy with some caramel sneaking though as well. Piney hops, moderate bitterness for the style, and supported by quite a bit of malt which keeps the hops in check. Not the biggest IIPA I’ve ever had but very well rounded, tasty, and relatively easy drinking. I’ll rank this one just a shade under Stone Ruination. chandler0201 (341), Durham, North Carolina, USA Apr 6, 2008 Nice fruity aroma and flavor of bitter and semi-sweet which leads to a smoother after taste. Stew41 (1042), Caulfield, Australia Apr 5, 2008 Plenty of fruity aromas with a nice underlying lick fo sweet hops. Funky barnyard note as well. Aromas are very clasy and done well. Sweet AND bitter hops collide in the mouth at the same time. Astringent and powerful finish. Carries the 9.1% with incredible ease. Over-the-top but great fun.
