Guinness4Duff (507), Tallahassee (and Poconos, PA), Florida, USA Feb 10, 2008 Pours a cloudy orange amber color with a nice white head. Aroma is of sweet malt and hops. Has nicely bitter floral taste with alot of pine in the finish. Very Good overall. beerheart (237), Erie, Colorado, USA Feb 10, 2008 I wish I were better able to articulate the why this beer with "big piney, floral hops" is better than other IPAs/Double IPAs that use many of the same ingredients. This one pours with a beautiful amber-copper color and white froth. Sits medium-bodied on the palate, bitter on the tongue.Abundant hop bitterness is balanced by a chewy maltiness. The taste is apricts, grapefruit and other citrus, maybe a little brown sugar. Very piney. Finishes with a pronounced hop bitterness, but the bitterness does not linger. Acknud (770), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA Feb 8, 2008 Pretty golden with lacing galore. Subdued aroma of pine. Taste is a little thin but a good balance between citrus and piney hops. The malt pokes its head through only briefly. msante79 (785), Orland Hills, Illinois, USA Feb 8, 2008 Updated: Apr 28, 2008Bomber. Pours clear copper with small off white head. Aroma is citrus, pines and hops, Taste is mainly hops with citrus and pine. Bitter finish. Big IIPA. stangger (155), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 8, 2008 12oz bottle. Orangish-Brown pour. Great, powerful aroma of pine, citrus, and possibly Simcoe hops. The first taste is a bitter blast, followed by an enormous burst of grapefruity citrus. A slight taste of alcohol only complements the complexity. Warm, fuzzing feeling completes the drink. GREAT beer. ojclark (69), Santa Monica, California, USA Feb 7, 2008 Bottle. 2/6/08. Big, piney, floral hop aroma blended with alcohol and malt notes (sweetness, toast, caramel). Beer smelled fantastic. Poured copper-orange with a light-tan head with good retention and abundant lacing. Beer was slightly hazy with lots of very small sediment particles in suspension, even after resting bottle upright for 30 minutes. Flavor was a complex mix of floral, piney hops, bitterness, alcohol, and toasted malt with some sweetness and caramel notes. Aftertaste of hop bittereness, spicy hop flavor, and alcohol. Flavor changed considerably as beer warmed. Medium-full bodied, with a rich, almost creamy mouthfeel. Moderate carbonation. Finished somewhat dry, but not astringent, with some alcohol warmth. Very, very nice DIPA. VitaminR (422), Colorado, USA Feb 5, 2008 Sweet resin, pine, caramel nose. Deep amber, frothy head. Almost perfect balance with sweet malt and hops. Full bodied, with the alcohol cutting right through to perfection. In the world of Double/Imperial IPAs, there is no equal. hellbilly (1502), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Feb 4, 2008 draft @ papago... hazy dark amber pour with a thin white head and nice lacing. orange/citrus aroma with notes of pine, toasty grain and caramel. flavor is similar and never really develops on the palate. it has a dry hoppy finish with noticeable alcohol. medium body with no cloying mouth feel. a decent brew w/o all the sweetness. goes really well with chicken wings!
