3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured from a 650ml bottle dated July 22, 2005.
Very cloudy appearance in an orange amber color-nice. Creamy foamy 1 finger head that leaves plenty of sticky lacing throughout with a bit of sediment.
Smells grassy, hoppy, sort of malty and also sweet with sticky notes again. There is also a bit of citrus/grapefruit notes detected.
Tastes largely of hops, but not too strong and bitter. I feel like the 10% ABV can be detected near the end of each taste. The malt presence is stronger than I would have thought and the grapefruit notes are much stronger than in the smell.
Medium body mouthfeel overall. Smooth for all of the ABV and as much of a hopbomb that this is supposed to be.
Because it is so strong in its flavors and with a 10% ABV, I don’t think that I could drink alot of these over and over.
Overall, I thought that it was a good DIPA, but not as outstanding as I would have expected. I’ll try it again as it has a great reputation (and maybe the age of my bottle had something to do with not completely overwhelming me) but I wouldn’t say that it is the best DIPA that I have ever had.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance is a hazy, orangey amber, a one finger light beige creamy head. Aroma- quite a lot of caramel, malty sweetness, malt bread, hops, fruit juice, hint of lemon. Much more malt-forward than other IIPAs. Taste- bitter, juicy hops, solid malt backbone- bread, hint of toffee and even sugary raisin, alcohol definitely detectable in this one. Sticky mouthfeel- sugary hop resins, and a very long, bitter, resiny finish. Very interesting IPA.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Growler from Joe Canal’s in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Pours a honey gold color with a large bubbly beige head. Piney grapefruit hop nose. Upfront, flavor is huge of citrus, with hints of tangerine, lemon and grapefruit. Futher sips yield a caramel malt backbone with notes of pine and more citrus. For a Double IPA at 10% ABV, this drinks very smooth and easy. Midtaste brings earthy malt with resiny hops. Spicy bitter hop finish. Big and flavorful, a nice IIPA and a must try.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
"Accidental" target at Standard Market. Warm alcohol smell brings good tidings of much hops. Alcohol comes in cost, a bit hot, and it makes the hops taste like they might be aging out like a cellared 90-Minute. while still a great strong IPA, in this case the taste can’t match up to the expectation of the nose.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Aroma has sweetness, vanilla and grapefruit. Pours almost clear amber with a dense creamy head that leaves beautiful lacing. Quite a lot of yeasty bits floating around. Taste has medium sweetness and medium bitterness. A lot of resin and grapefruit with a nice, full malty backbone. Average carbonation. Some warmth from alcohol in the aftertaste. Almost perfect DIPA!

Jotain salmiakkia ja aika paljon makua. Kyllä se jenkeissä taitaa IPA parasta vaan olla.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Alko, Helsinki. Pours fairly clear copper with a big, rocky white head, looks impressive. The aroma features not only rich American style piney and citrus hoppiness but also surprisingly lot of nutty, sweetish maltiness. Taste is heavily bitter and hoppy; a true hop explosion from start to a late, long finish. Flavours of pine and resin appear initially, later more citrusy notes and in the finish, grapefruit. Very assertive hop presence, malt character supports but takes only a secondary role as expected. A hint of alcohol in the finish. The palate is full bodied and thick, slow and heavy to drink – not indeed for everyone. Excellent stuff but perhaps a bit more tropical fruity aspects would have been in order.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Nice notes of pine and citrus. I'd like to have a few of these but at 10% be careful. I would have again.
