COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hoppier, maltier and with more alcohol than a standard IPA, Hercules Double IPA definitely is not for the faint of heart. Hercules Double IPA is, however, an elixir fit for the gods. A brash but creamy wonder, Hercules pours a deep orange-coppery color, forming substantial lace in the glass. Hercules Double IPA delivers a huge amount of piney, floral, and citrusy hop aroma and flavor from start to finish. A hefty backbone of nutty, toffee-like malt character balances Hercules’ aggressive, punchy hop profile. 85 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Very aggressive, although a lot of the intensity comes from the alcohol content rather than the hops. Don’t get me wrong, it’s very hoppy, but it’s actually pretty well-balanced. To compare it with a Stone beer, I would say it’s closer to Double Bastard than to Ruination. There are a lot of layers... the resinous, floral hops, the toasted malts with more than a hint of vanilla, and of course the extra kick from the high ABV. Impressive.

Pours clear golden-copper with a lacy off-white head. Aroma is pine, grapefruit, tropical fruits, malts and citrusy. Taste is heavy sweet and heavy bitter. Some toffee/caramel. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

Slightly citrusy hoppy smell, good but mild, taste is obviously hoppy, not much more than that....not great, but not my style

Bottle from Ölrepublikken. Almost orange colour. Thick, oily body. Low carbonation. Bitter. Pine, resin, citrus, some malt and some red fruit flavour. Good and balanced.

On tap, poured into a sampler. Bright, crisp aromas of peach, passion fruit, pineapple upside-down cake, maraschino cherries, apricot, and honeydew all come through with some candy sugar. It pours a hazy, opaque apricot color with a thick, off-white foamy head that reduces down to a thick foamy ring with a thin, small island. It leaves behind a runny, fuzzy moderate lacing. It’s highly bitter with a medium / medium-light sweetness. The chewy, full bodied beer has lots of fuzzy carbonation. Pine, grassy, resin, and light, sweet fruit all come through on the palate and it finishes dry with a fresh, lingering aftertaste.

Bronze colour with small head but lasting laces. Peach and strawberry aroma, also grapefruit. Full bodied malt taste, fruit and soap hides much of the bitterness and alcohol at first. Long aftertaste.

BOD 6/25/14. Clear amber pour with a dark ruby cast. Normal head with excellent lacing and retention. Nice nose of blended hops (pine, citrus and a bit of dank) over a caramel background with a hint of alcohol. Medium bodied with a slick texture. Below average carbonation with no effervescence on the finish. The taste profile is complex, but a bit out of balance. The alcohol is quite prevalent. It begins with a caramel rush that flows into the hop flavor, but never totally recedes. The middle is a mild dank bitterness. The finish lingers with alcohol and a slight phenolic note.

Looks.. Hazy orange amber, sml white head. Smells..floral and unripe stonefruits, loads of malts..red honey, caramel. Tastes..hops v malts battle won by malts, sweet floral hops, strong caramel malts.. A little boozy too. This was bottled 1 yr ago.. So was expected to have lost some hop character..

Incredibly bitter scent. The taste is bitter and quite obnoxious. There are no words I series uses often when I drink beer but this beer I really difficult to drink. It has a minimal fruity taste but as I said, it is taken over by a bitter taste. Bitterness is not good at all, but may still hold in the whole mouth for a long time. To me this beer svårdrucken even though I love Double IPA. Nevertheless believe that this is an defect beer. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

355ml bottle. Amber-ish body with a medium head. Citrus and pine dominates, along with some tropical fruits. Strong alcohol presence and a bit dryish mouthfeel.
