COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hoppier, maltier and with more alcohol than a standard IPA, Hercules Double IPA definitely is not for the faint of heart. Hercules Double IPA is, however, an elixir fit for the gods. A brash but creamy wonder, Hercules pours a deep orange-coppery color, forming substantial lace in the glass. Hercules Double IPA delivers a huge amount of piney, floral, and citrusy hop aroma and flavor from start to finish. A hefty backbone of nutty, toffee-like malt character balances Hercules’ aggressive, punchy hop profile. 85 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

KajII (800) - Macon, North Carolina, USA - MAY 20, 2012
UPDATED: MAY 30, 2012 Bottle. The pour was a murky medium copper orange with a large (2-3 finger) rocky cream colored head that had decent retention, finally reducing to a thin layer of residue with some excellent sheeting of sticky lacing. The aroma was of a toasted grain malt, pine and floral hops and a mildly sweet yeast with notes of citrus (grapefruit / peel), toffee, caramel and a mild alcohol tinge. The taste was bitter sweet and a tad malty with a hint of toffee early on, with the taste becoming a bit hoppier and having a strong grapefruit presence and a mild citrus peel bitterness towards the end. The flavor lingered for a good while with the taste of citrus and hops settling nicely on the taste buds, meanwhile a mild alcohol warming sensation just added to the enjoyment of this tantalizing brew. Mouthfeel was almost medium in body with a dry oily texture and a good lively carbonation. Overall a DIPA with a well balanced blending of flavors that created a smooth sweet bitter taste, which made this a very enjoyable and drinkable brew.

from bottle, poured a deep orange colour with a slight creamy head on top. nose is west coast pine, crisp malts, grapefruit, citrus, pretty basic imperial ipa, not overwelming, just a truckload of bitter pine in the mouth. not my kind of ipa. was expecting more from such a great brewery

Bottle, bottled 29.02.2016 (from beergium). Pours amber wtih whiteish head. Nice lacing. Aroma is sweet, hoppy, caramel, pine. Flavor is sweet and bitter, a lot of pine, some citrus, caramel, malt. Finish is resin-dry bitter with some alcohol warmth. Alcohol is well covered. Overall: would like to try fresher version, but this is still very nice.

Orange color. Hop is dominant in the aroma, with sweetness in the background. Mixing heavy sweet and heavy bitter tastes little by little, but not balanced. Alcohol becomes too clear during the finish.

Clear amber colour, huge creamy and long lasting yellowish-beige-ish head; aroma of pine resin, orange peel oils, celery, grapefruit, minimal biscuit notes and hints of sauerkraut; taste of a typical perfect IIPA: tons of resiny hops, some citruses and tropical fruits (mango?) as well as malty sweetness; lovely beer

A little underwhelmed to be honest. A heavily floral nose which was pleasant. The body is thin and hides the alcohol relatively well, but to taste the excessive hops give a bitter and icing sugar type bite but there is no malt in the body to counterbalance. Finish is long on the bitterness. A basic hop bomb and nothing really to rave about. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Very mild for IMP IPA and 10 ABV. Decent smooth maltiness, vanilla aspect, citrus, pineapple, light pine. Bitter all the way with light hint of sweetness. Lovely but not remarkable

Pint glass from tap. Pine and pineapple aroma. Golden, thin white foam, good lacing. Sour pine, citrus pith, super bitter finish. Drinks like a 7%.

Amber color with off-white head. Aroma has really resiny and earthy hops with a solid malt backbone. Taste starts malty and bitter at first but in the middle I get a really weird, stale flavor and it lingers for a while. Medium body and carbonation. I don’t know if I got a bad bottle but the stale/stinky flavor kind of ruins it for me.
