330ml bottle labelled 8.7% ABV. Pours dark amber with a large foamy beige head. Aroma of caramel, plums and maple syrup. Taste of roasted malts, caramel, spices, maple syrup and alcohol. Light-medium sweet and medium bitter. Medium body, smooth texture, average carbonation. Overall a good Old Ale, but somewhat unbalanced with alcohol that is slightly too noticeable.

Mahogany brown and slightly reddish ale with really thick and bold head on top. Aroma has oak, slight chocolate, stingy berries and some herbs. Bold malty flavors, herbs and bitterness, with roasted malts, dark chocolate and oak. Medium bodied and medium carbonation. Nice beer to enjoy beside the fireplace.

God!

On tap at Tapwerks. Pours a clear dark amber brown with a gray head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has notes of sweet grains that are slightly earthy, toffee and just a hint of smoke. Flavor also has sweet grains and toffee and is backed by a slight earthy and smokey note.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a dark brown with a dark ruby hue. Nice head of tan foam that laces well and has reasonable retention. Light nose of dark malt, molasses and piney hops. Medium body and carbonation level. The taste is complex and has dark malt, molasses and a hop undertone. Sweetness is present, but is almost hidden by roast malt bitterness. Alcohol is well hidden. On the finish, a nice oak flavor comes through and lingers along with a light hop flavor. Very good, but not outstanding.

Excellent seasonal from Great Divide. I normally avoid these kind of ’winter strong english ales’ because I find them to be immensely boring. However, I took a chance on this one and it turned out be rich and dynamic. This is a campfire beer. Tastes like toffee, chestnut, smoked sausage, toasted pine, with a slight hint of ripe plum tomato. Abv gives it body, but does not come through in the taste. Very good, but only if you like big smokey beers.
