12 oz bottle. Pours dark amber with a pencil thin sandy head. Caramel and nutty aroma. Robust malt, rich flavor. Smooth but full-bodied. Mildly hoppy. Buttery and bitter aftertaste.

Draft brownish copper. Nose chocolate and sweet malt. Mild roast. Taste earthy malt, toffee, some alcohol, slightly boozy. Finish astringent bitterness.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured dark brown with aroma of malt, coffee. Taste was hard to place. Sweet yet bitter. Molasses, vanilla oak. Bitter finish. Was expecting something curmudgeon like. No where near it. Not really for me.

Interesting beer. Has everything in it. Stout, light, brown, IPA, etc. All mixed in one. Really good. Not sure what an old ale is but I like this

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This one poured a medium murky brown color with an off white head. Aroam was of coffee, roast, and dark fruits. Flavor was of roast, coffee, caramel, toffee, and cherries. INteresting beer and much more in depth than I was expecting.

Had in Scottsdale restaurant - too dark to tell color. Aroma was a malt bomb. Taste of malt, caramel and a touch of bitterness. Enjoyable

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Like most old ales, this is a tough one to put a finger on. Strong malt backbone, almost like a doppelbock, but also with a dry, bitter hoppiness. Some fruit sweetness (apricot?). Rich, heavy palate. Hints of oak and vanilla. Not really my thing. Flavor is forgettable and bordering on unpleasant.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This beer was nothing like I had anticipated. The immediate aroma of fresh hops didn't correlate with the description as an "Old English Ale." Lots of malts, lots of fresh hoppiness and overall a great beer, however.

Creamy malts blend well with subtle spices. Great for cold weather. Pair with chocolate.

0.9 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20
This English style Ale on first glance looks good. It has a dark reddish brown color with a thick tan head. When you pour it, it looks appealing. The appeal began to go down hill from there. This beer had a nutty yet very astringent aroma. I couldn’t quite place the smell and so I passed it on to my wife who laughed a little and said it smelled like nail polish remover. I could certainly smell the resemblance. So I took my first taste and that was all it took. It was malty, nutty, and heavy but it had a terrible astringent taste that truly could be compared to nail polish remover or rubbing alcohol. This was a terrible beer that I couldn’t even finish. This is the worst beer I have had thus far. I would hope that I just got a bad batch.
