This beer had huge flavors, and was pretty filling with just one bottle. I would definitely pick this one up again - tis’ quite the warm-up brew.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Nice dark brown pour with some tan head that persisted with some sheeting on the glass. Started off with some roasted malts and a tinge of coffee or chocolate. As this guy warmed up it got even better. The flavors smoothed out and I found myself questioning if this was actually a stout. Wonderful beer, one I need every time it starts snowing. Probably one of my favorite winter seasonals.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Dark ruby to deep brown in color, creamy tan head. Aroma is of roasted malt and brown sugar. Taste is similar, molasses, pepper. strong rich maltiness, complex hop overtone taste taste and finish. Creamy full bodied with apparent alcohol taste yet well balanced. Best to be consumed at an old age on the porch of a log cabin deep in the wilderness as you watch the snowfall with a loved one held close.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours dark ruby, off-white head with lots of lacing. Aroma is dark malt, molasses. Taste much the same, with a slightly hoppy element as well. Based on the appearance and smell, you’d expect it to be sweeter than it is. A nice full-body, moderate carbonation, nice mouthfeel. Very drinkable, even if the alcohol is hidden neither well nor poorly. Another good one from GD.

Decent, but there’s an off flavor. Dirty lines? Peppery, full flavored. A little boozy.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured from bottle into snifter. Dark pour with not much of a head, and that quickly faded to a tiny ring, but a surprising amount of lace. Aromas are bread, coffee, roasty, barnyard, cheese, earthy and malt. Taste is rich malt, with a fine balance of sweet, bitter and smoky salt. Full creamy body and texture with hints of stickiness. Carbonation is lively. Long finish. A really, really nice winter ale. Would love to cellar some of this but not sure I could leave it alone to age!
