4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Great aromas of aged oak, smoked barley, and roasted brown sugar. Deep crimson brown in appearance with no foam. Fresh hop assertiveness with complex flavors of herbs, caramel, clove, barley and wood. The finish offers a bit of a creamy caramel/oat flavor with a heavy alcohol sting. Overall, itís really well done. Fantastic complexity and heavy on the booze. Iíd give this an A+ rating.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A - Pours a dark ruby/garnet color with a light tan head
S - Bready and yeasty, toffee and caramel, strawberry. As it warms plums, sweet oaky bourbon, caramelized brown sugar. Bits of lacing.
T - Dense toffee malt, pecans, brown sugar, strawberries, notes of vanilla, citrus and mint hops bring in a crisp bitterness. A light caramel/maple sweetness coats the entire mouth while barley dominates the palate.
M - Full chewy body, crisp and smooth at different stages, warming.
This should be in a catagory of itís own. Iíve always that of this as a winter Barleywine. Start with a semi-cold one and let it warm completely. This beer really transitions and becomes complex when warm. Iíve always had it fresh as itís so hard to age because I always end up drinking it.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This beerís aroma was strongly reminiscent of roasted malts and clove, and the appearance combined a brownish red color and a small off-white head. Indeed, these first impressions prepare you completely for the taste, which is quite sour, slightly sweet, and a touch umami, as well as the palate, full body, thin texture, soft carbonation, and long finish. Although it wasnít be best beer out there, it was still really enjoyable and pleasant.
