Amber color with a moderate light cream to canvas colored head. Scents of raw grain, mild molasses and snap dragon flowers. An intriguing aroma, but not one I easily embrace. Full feel and just a hint of slipperiness. Light sweetness. A bit grainy in flavor. Light floral hops. Seems a bit simple, but quite drinkable. Has some rye qualities that make me think about distilling. 2/10

Bottle from Aaron--thanks! A dark lager. Small white head. Generally a sweet, malty beer, with a bit of Octoberfest to it. Creamy body. Second one tastes better than the first one (two different nights).

Cherry and Eason sweetness come from this clear copper lager. The taste is malty and cherryish through out the taste with a slight bitter aftertaste in this medium bodied brew. Marzen style is pretty close to this

12 oz pour from bottle, warmed to probably 50 degrees. Decent head, but quickly dissipates. Red hue, mild carbonation. Clear. Very pretty. Nose is strong cherry. Fruity. Taste is woody, cherry, biscuit, and a faint spice. Nice aftertaste. A little bitter.

Poured a pale gold to amber colour with a fluffy white head. Aroma is yeast and mixture of grain and biscuit. Flavor is dark fruits, grain, and caramel with the rye not being too overpowering. Light medium bodied with light carbonation and a dry malty finish. Very smooth and easy to drink.

A pleasant rye-accented but not rye-dominated Marzen variation, very well crafted. Pours an orange/rusty amber color, good head and lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, dank cherries, doppelbock-ish with more sweet caramel. Very malty, some grain, various caramel notes, earthy dark fruit all in the flavor. The rye spiciness is there but it's not front and center, mostly a classic marzen just with a more amplified flavor profile. Some subtle juicy hops and earthy bitterness in the aftertaste, and yet more caramel malt. This brew is well executed and can stand up to a well seasoned meal, recommended.

12oz bottle. 42 days old. Appearance: Deep copper, hazy, with minimal off white foam head.
Aroma: Faint Munich malt, a hint of rye. No noticeable hop aroma
Taste: Sweet bready an toasted malt with a light hop bitterness. Slight rye spice hits on the back of the tongue.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a light carbonation.
Finish: definitely leans on the malty side on the finish. Rye leaves the palate dry.
Overall: A standard Marzen with a nice bit of rye to add another layer of flavor. I was expecting a bit more rye character, but still a good lager.

The Hoss Rye Lager pours a clear rust with a decent sized creamy light tan head that lasts a fair while. The aroma is rye and caramel a bit of honey. The flavor is rye and caramel. Overall this beer is decent.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a dark yet clear copper color. The head is a little over a finger high, with an off-white shade. Its texture is more fluffy than creamy, but it still retains well. Nice rings of lacing are left on the glass.
S: Primarily, the aroma is caramel with some spicy rye and a touch of earthen hops. Rye comes out even more as it warms up. There isn’t a whole lot to the nose, but what’s there is definitely serviceable.
T: The malt backbone is stronger here. It opens faintly spicy - think rye and Centennial hops - and ends with a pleasant caramel finish. Not just caramel, but even some chocolate. A twinge of hop bitterness returns on the aftertaste. At times, it has a mineral quality to it. It’s not an intense beer per se, and I wouldn’t have it any other way: the hop/malt balance is delicate and defined in all the right ways.
M: It’s coarse and prickly, though not out-and-out sharp. For some reason, this seems to make the body thicker than it really is. Still, this is a nice and drinkable marzen that doesn’t rely on overdone carbonation to achieve that.
O: It’s hard to go wrong with this brewery, and it’s hard to go wrong with this beer. The rye adds a nice dimension without overpowering it. There’s little wow factor here, but I’ll be damned if I don’t say I’m craving another one of these.
