Commercial Description:
HotShot ESB is an easy-drinking and remarkably smooth Extra Special Bitter, brewed in the classic-English style. More assertively hopped than ordinary bitters, light copper-colored HotShot showcases clean hop flavors, balanced by its slightly fruity nose and light-caramel malt character.

A good example of an esb, I liken it to saranac esb, they have a very similar flavor profile. Good malty flavor with just the right amount of hops. Carbonation was a little too high for my liking. Nice, drinkable esb.

Bottle from my *hodge podge* box from richmond. So this was at least a year old, probably more. Poured a near clear golden amber with huge off-white head that eventually dies down. Some citrus character and light fruity hop aroma. Flavor has a nice malt backbone and actually seems to overpower the hop profile, but that could be in large part to the age. Not that bad actually.

Post-GABF football Sunday in an Irish pub after the Broncos game (I can’t recall the name of the pub). The server said that Great Divide allows them to serve this under the name "Max Evans Welsch Ale", but she thought it was their regular ESB. Deep copper amber, thin almond head. Sweet toffee malt, creamy mouthfeel, low earthy/woody bitterness. quite nice.

Bottle. Pours a copper amber body with a light white head. Light fruit apple and citrus in the nose. Malt is very subtle with a fruity floral hoppy acidity. Good beer.

bottled jan of 2003. Aroma of caramel, and citrus hops. Medium amber hue with a massive off-white rocky head that mostly lasted and left fantastic lace. Flavor is caramel malts and a nice crisp bitterness. Palate is light bodied and lively. This was an old bottle found in a bargain bin. Extreme carbonation may mean a possible contamination and there was an off flavor in there but just a hint and not enough knock it. Decent for a 5.5 year old beer that’s only 5% ABV.

Different from other ESBs but not great. It had a strange taste of a homebrew that had not been aged long enough. It would have been much better otherwise. Decent malt and hops balance. Mine was extremely carbonated and I had to wait a while for the head to settle.
