Mrthirstyneck (339), Minnesota, USA Jun 16, 2008 this was a nice drinking beer overall. decent amount of bittering hops combined with plenty of fruity and caramel character. nice and smooth and easy to drink.
polomagnifico (420), Saginaw, Michigan, USA Aug 4, 2008 bottled jan of 2003. Aroma of caramel, and citrus hops. Medium amber hue with a massive off-white rocky head that mostly lasted and left fantastic lace. Flavor is caramel malts and a nice crisp bitterness. Palate is light bodied and lively. This was an old bottle found in a bargain bin. Extreme carbonation may mean a possible contamination and there was an off flavor in there but just a hint and not enough knock it. Decent for a 5.5 year old beer that’s only 5% ABV. wcampbell (441), Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 9, 2008 Different from other ESBs but not great. It had a strange taste of a homebrew that had not been aged long enough. It would have been much better otherwise. Decent malt and hops balance. Mine was extremely carbonated and I had to wait a while for the head to settle. beerheart (224), Erie, Colorado, USA Jul 6, 2008 As the description notes, greater hop than most ESB’s. This beer doesn’t possess the caramel and chocolate highlights that I find in other ESBs. Those seem to have been forgone in lieu of the additional hop, which absorbs the traditional malts that would give those flavors. That said, this is not an unbalanced beer. Collint (348), Sylva, North Carolina, USA Apr 28, 2008 Updated: Jun 8, 2008Bottle, pours a clear orange. Head is off white and creamy. Aroma is a nice balance of hop and malt bursts. Flavor is mostly malty with a hop backround. The end is dry, but not un plesent. Awesome beer for what I was expecting. Retired?
