LASSO is the new frontier of India Pale Ale. Brewed with a robust roundup of Columbus, Centennial and Cascade hops, its sessionable simplicity proves bigger isnít always better. But make no mistake Ė the Wild West hasnít gone mild. That same untamed IPA spirit thrives, and we reckon thisíll go down mighty fine.

12oz bottle pours with a clear copper body that has thin gold edges and supports a light tan head. The modest aroma offers up sweet malts, a mix of fresh mango and citrus candy and then it gets into a bit of spicy to floral hops near the end of the draw. The taste delivers pleasing malt sweetened yet punchy fresh citrus hop bitterness thatís largely grapefruit and tangerine like. It then slides into light notes of floral hops, spicy earthy almost dank hops and a nice faint drying earthy tea note. This is a solid 5% brew with plenty of yummy fresh flavors, balance and harmony. Is 5% an imperial session IPA?

This pours a clear golden body with a ring and some film in lieu of a head. The aroma is predominantly grapefruit and zest with the lightest touch of a generic pale malt sweetness. The flavor is mostly orange zest, an earthy bitterness, and almost no malt presence. Odd drink.

bottle. clear orange with a medium, whipped white head. enticing blend of floral and citrus aromas. a little bit of vanilla cake from the malt bill with tropical fruit, lychee, peach, and floral hop notes. medium body. not particularly dry. one of the íbiggerí session ipaís i think.

Bottle. Pours a clear copper amber with a foamy off-white head. Prevalent hop aroma has spicy and citrusy notes. Balanced with a biscuity malt body up front and dry herbal hop finish. Quite drinkable, yet unremarkable. Full carbonation.

On tap at the Beer House in Yorktown Center, Lombard, IL., and shaker served showing a clear, amber/gold color, with a persistent, billowy/frothy, white head, and draping lace. Even keeled nose of sweet citrus & pine, a little dankness, and a touch of tropical scent as pineapple. Light to medium bodied, with moderate, lingering, citrus & rind hop bitterness. Hop centric, but nicely balanced & drinkable for a Cís IPA.

On tap at Sparkyís. Light citrus, pine and caramel. weak in the middle and not much of a finish. Would rather have a Great Divide APA.

12oz bottle. Pours clear honey color. Aroma of citrus, grain, pine. Very low aroma. Flavor is spruce, caramel, citrus. Overall, not a bad beer. It has enough character to make it drinkable. It isnít a real standout though. Something that I would choose for the lower alcohol content, but still with a nice hop to it.

Nice primary flavors, but just not much complexity going on in the background. I don't like to let alcohol content play a big role in reviews, but the lowly 5% is apparent with the soft backbone on this one. Reach instead for Great Divide's Titan IPA, blows this out of the water.

It likely gets a higher score because I had this with pizza, which it seems perfect for. After having some on its own, it seems like itís missing a piece of the puzzle. The hops are there, but it doesnít seem to have anything in the background or partnering with the hops. Itís OK, but I wonít be getting it again as there are much better choices for a session IPA.

Minty grass and tea hop aroma. Cloudy amber, medium head, chunky, lacy. Grass and tea flavor, somewhat resinous. Rather than low bitterness, it goes the other way. Hop bill is pilsnery. Kind of stale. Great brewer, strange interpretation of the style.
