LASSO is the new frontier of India Pale Ale. Brewed with a robust roundup of Columbus, Centennial and Cascade hops, its sessionable simplicity proves bigger isn’t always better. But make no mistake – the Wild West hasn’t gone mild. That same untamed IPA spirit thrives, and we reckon this’ll go down mighty fine.

A nice clear golden color with an inch of long lasting white cap in my glass. Good aromas, plenty of centennial woodiness and bitterness, but enough citrusy hops to keep it a little lighter than the harder hitters. great flavor, and a clean finish for the style. Its got quite a bit of body and as such drinks a little heavier than the session ipa its billed to be. Overall not bad."

12 oz bottle from Total Wine and More The ale poured a clear light amber with a frothy off white head and lacing. The aroma of malts mixed with grapefruit rind, The floral hop bitterness dominates the beer. The ale had a medium body with average carbonation. The finish had hop bitterness in the back of the mouth. Great Divide is one of my favorite brewers. Lasso is not one of their best efforts.

Tap at The Blatt in Omaha... nice appearance with notes of citrus/floral, but the most important part.... the taste, average at best. A pretty dry, bitter hop finish. Probably won’t have another one. I’ve had much better session IPA’s. Not a great effort by Great Divide... very disappointed.

My bottle wasn’t extraordinarily over-carbonated or anything but it was fixin’ to gush so be ready to pour this as soon as you open, at least the current batch. It pours cloudy deep orange w/ a huge, long-lasting foamy head--as you might expect from a slightly over-carbonated beer. Nose is mostly hops, surprisingly floral given the varieties used. I am getting mostly lavender w/ some sweet orange notes. As mentioned, this is definitely over-carbonated but that actually kind of works in this style, especially since it’s full bodied enough that it doesn’t come off as just thin and prickly. I actually think this might have a brett infection or something but it actually seems to be beneficial, adding a fruity complexity and keeping the beer nice and dry. So, hey, probably the next time I get this it will not taste remotely the same but this bottle is pretty good.

Bottle, shared with Parksy. Medium orange, average off white head. Caramel malt, a bit of pine, light bitterness. The first dud from Great Divide in quite a while.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle at Quarry House Tavern in Silver Spring, MD. Hazy with fine sediment, amber-gold with a thin off-white head and good lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, orange, biscuit, bread and a hint of pine. Taste of citrus, pine, malt, floral hops and a touch of passion fruit. Medium/light body and medium carbonation. Session IPAs are by necessity a compromise. This one is just OK. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle to shaker glass, pours hazy copper, two finger head, nice lacing and retention. Aroma of caramel and herbs. Taste is sweet with some earthy bitterness. Light bodied, lively carbonation, mouth feel is a little thin. Finishes slightly bitter and long. Tasting notes of grass, caramel, light citrus. This is more like a pale ale to me. Not bad but nothing special.
