COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
LASSO is the new frontier of India Pale Ale. Brewed with a robust roundup of Columbus, Centennial and Cascade hops, its sessionable simplicity proves bigger isn’t always better. But make no mistake – the Wild West hasn’t gone mild. That same untamed IPA spirit thrives, and we reckon this’ll go down mighty fine.

Served out of a tap at a bar. Good ipa. Doesn’t live up to other great divide beers but is a solid ipa.

12oz bottle pours with a clear copper body that has thin gold edges and supports a light tan head. The modest aroma offers up sweet malts, a mix of fresh mango and citrus candy and then it gets into a bit of spicy to floral hops near the end of the draw. The taste delivers pleasing malt sweetened yet punchy fresh citrus hop bitterness that’s largely grapefruit and tangerine like. It then slides into light notes of floral hops, spicy earthy almost dank hops and a nice faint drying earthy tea note. This is a solid 5% brew with plenty of yummy fresh flavors, balance and harmony. Is 5% an imperial session IPA?

The complexity was average, but I really liked the low ABV for an IPA. Good solid beer but not one to write home about.

Complex, or confused, aroma of citrus, pine, forest, steel. Mostly pleasant, but kudos for showing up strong. At 5% ABV, bitterness dominates the flavor, more pine and then some resin- but in a good way. Very clean and drinkable. I like their Titan more.

Pours a clear sunny gold with a fair khaki head that settles slowly and leaves some tight, intricate lace. Nose involves some soft peach and apricot notes, some pine, spice, honey and toasted malts. Lightly sweet, quite bitter. Lighter bodied but not empty feeling, oily, crisp and bright, with a lengthy bitter finish. Really nice brew, well-balanced with plenty of hops and very drinkable.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run, bottled Jan. 10, 2014. And Great Divide is back in Virginia yet again. We’ll see how long it lasts this time. Pours a clear copper color with a large frothy white head. Good head retention. Aroma of citrus, floral and resin hops, some caramel maltiness. The taste is bitter resin hops, candied citrus, citrus, some green hops and a solid caramel malt backbone. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness, moderate carbonation, decent balance. Solid beer.

bottle. clear orange with a medium, whipped white head. enticing blend of floral and citrus aromas. a little bit of vanilla cake from the malt bill with tropical fruit, lychee, peach, and floral hop notes. medium body. not particularly dry. one of the ’bigger’ session ipa’s i think.

Unbelievable richness and flavor at 5%. Creamy palate, bread malts, lots of unctuous yeast, and a grapefruit, tangerine, mown grass hop. Excellent.

Bottled on FEB 17 2014. Nose is lightly sweet and very piny with lychee and lighter orange and grapefruit. Pours rich, clear golden that leans into orange, supports a dense and rocky off-white head. Taste is very dry with medium bitterness, notably fresh and brightly citric, light florality abutting stronger pine. Finish and aftertaste are a bit bitterer and the pine really thrives there with lighter swashes of resin and spice. Medium-full body, earthy and lightly oily with some chalkiness that lingers perhaps too long. This is super fresh and inviting and a great showcase for solid and characteristically ’Murcan hops without trying for the extremities of bitterness or alcohol. Awesome on the front end, but I like it less as the leafy greens set in from the hop side with the dank, watered-Simcoe paper imitations.
