Enjoyed on tap in sampler form at Great Divide barrel room in Denver, CO. Appearance is a moderate brown with a moderate white bubbly head. Aroma of bourbon and light hops, bourbon is the definite ingredient. Taste is really good, hops come in a little more in the flavor, but really its the bourbon that shines. Fantastic stuff!

On tap at the Barrel bar. Mellow orange gold color with an orange and vanilla coconut aroma. Medium to full bodied with a dry finish. The taste is almost like an oakey orange julep with vanilla. Quite different from the original Hercules but very good stuff.

Taster at the brewery - lightly hazy copper - soapy lace - this pulls off that rare quality in BA IPA in that the barrel adds depth and complexity without washing out the vibrant and bitter character of the hops - toasted coconut and vanilla make way for citric, tropical, spicy hoppiness - lingering oakiness on the end - tasty, but a little hot in the finish.

Clear beautiful copper with a thin white cap. Lovely aroma of oak and mild vanilla, some citrusy grapefruit, and something mildly candylike, with a whiskey boozy kiss. Smooth bitter flavor with a load of sweet caramelly oak flavor, leafy and citrusy bitterness, and a nice quiet vanilla nuance throughout.

Sample at the Great Divide Barrel Bar. The beer is a clear orange color with a medium white head that recedes steadily to a wispy film. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of bourbon, hops and malt. Medium to full body with flavors of oaky bourbon, vanilla, resiny hops and malt. The finish is mildly boozy with an oaky and hoppy aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Just not my glass of beer, left a bitter aftertaste in my mouth. Heavy smell, earthy.

Beautiful copper colour with lots of beige lacing, nice looking beer. Aroma of caramel and brandy. Tastes of hop bittered caramel, brandy/whiskey. This is a really nice beer!

bottle - in Denver Sept 2009 - a wonderful imperial IPA, surprising to me that I liked the regular Hercules more than the oak aged - both amazing though
