This beer has the added effect of a potent woody character from the oak. Interesting and delicious. TKA300 (100), Carbondale, Illinois, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Nov 21, 2009 Wow. Just wow. This stout was incredible. It poured an opaque black with a medium brown head. The aroma was mostly roasted malts, chocolate, and a little tobacco-y. It was an incredible brew and was very filling. Just awesome. Hopper (295), San Antonio, Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 19, 2009 10/30/09 bottling date. Pours a dark black with a small tan head. The aroma was chocolate, roastiness, & tobacco(my first time smelling tobacco in beer). The taste was bitter espresso, wood-wow that’s a lot of wood taste, roasty with the wood making the ending very dry. This is the woodiest beer I’ve had & as you get through the bomber the wood taste does start to be too much. Maybe it needs a little more time in the bottle for the wood taste to settle down & mix in with the rest of the flavors. DeadGirl (215), West Palm Beach, Florida, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Nov 14, 2009 Rating #200! Pours oil-like black with a soft tan head from the 22oz. bottle: Nose is ridiculously intimidating. The first sip is calming. Smoked oak, earth tones, vanilla beans, coffee with a little added creamer, dried cherries mixed with bitter dark, roasted chocolate (you can practically chew on it), and a thoroughly bitter finish. Mildly carbonated, full bodied, and silky smooth throughout into a lingering, mutifaceted characteristic finish. Drinkability: Easing, delicious, warming (or is that the alcohol in my stomach)... complex. A real beer-rah. Rebuy: Right away. #200 on 14112009, DG. ilherps (226), Carbondale, Illinois, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Nov 12, 2009 So dark I poured the bottle and the room got dim. Intense roasted aroma, exceptional flavor, coffee, grain, and chocolate. A very intense and nicely hopped stout. potbeercollege (311), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Nov 12, 2009 Bomber. Black as night, head develops into a beautiful thick milk chocolate color. As expected, very strong lacing. Aroma of roasted coffee and dark chocolate, notes of fruit and citrus. Flavors of burnt chocolate, berries, light note of dark coffee - very interesting and complex, different flavors come out with every sip. This beer is beautiful and so well balanced it makes you want to scream in victory. foosnbrews (36), Parker, Colorado, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Nov 10, 2009 Beer poors deep black with a very dark head. Aroma is of dark malts and alcohol. Flavor is nice, dark malts and hops cover alcohol presence. Palate is perfect for the style, a bit sticky but good. Overall beer is great, I’d like to keep one on hand when I’m feeling like an imperial stout fata2683 (860), Panama City, Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 7, 2009 bottle, pours pitch black with a dark tan waterfall that lends to a medium brown head. Aroma is full of roasted malt and oak with some bakers chocolate. Nice chocolate malt and black patent that have coffee and vanilla notes. Ends with a lingering wood/earthy note that has some sweetness like maple syrup along with it. Really nice stout with low carbonation and a silky mouthfeel.
