Commercial Description:
Crack open Yeti Imperial Stout’s sophisticated sibling -- Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout. Although these beers come from the same clan, they have entirely different personalities. Aging on a blend of French and toasted oak chips infuses a subtle oak and vanilla character into Yeti’s already intense chocolate, roasted coffee malt flavor and hugely assertive hop profile. Who says you can’t tame a Yeti? 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

A stout beer that demands respect. A very deep bitter stout that reminds me of the first time I had a sip of beer. "People can’t drink this and like it." But after the small glass I had it grew on you as a slightly better then typical stout.

Pour is thick dark black with a great brown head, strong notes of chocolate and roasted malty coffee, flavor is strong with chocolate and coffee at first, but you can soonafter taste the vanilla undertones, finishes sweet and dry.

2009 Bottle - Thanks SpringsLicker! - Pours an opaque almost black with a massive brown head...aroma is chocolate, oak, very hop forward, with burnt coffee undertones...flavour is massive up front, chocolate, bitter barrel, dk malt, serious hops...fucking huge imperial stout, a little bitter but i’m sure the bitterness mellows over time into an incredible treat...

Bottle. Pours murky black, thick, with a tan head. Wood, chocolate, coffee abound, with a note of hop bitterness but not really hop flavor or aroma - a great balance. The murky dark appearance, an excitingly thick mouthfeel and the very well-rounded flavor make this one of my faves.

This beer is awesome! My favorite as of now. Aroma of malt, coffee, hops. Taste of the same with a nice oak-ness, and vanilla round out the flavors.

I have never seen a bigger gap between the oaked and regular version. Brings out the chocolate and fruity undertones and the aging smoothes it out beautlfully. Great!

Oh my. This is the good stuff. A notch higher than it’s unoaked aged stout. Pour is almost black with a nice head. Aroma is dark fruit, vanilla chocolate. Flavor is very complex. Starts sweet then the alcohol comes along with the vanilla and oak. Finishes very dry. Very well done

Medium cinnamon colored head with black body with brownish-red highlights held to a light. Aroma improved greatly while warming changing from hoppy to balanced to complex involving hops initially and then vanilla and... char maybe? Great aroma. I was disappointed with the "subtle" flavors as I was expecting complexity but instead found rather muted flavors that blended together. I suppose this is what I should expect from a greatly aged beer. The palate was thick and smooth with char and bitterness coming in at the end; fantastic. If the flavors were more robust then it would get a higher rating.
