Commercial Description:
Crack open Yeti Imperial Stout’s sophisticated sibling -- Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout. Although these beers come from the same clan, they have entirely different personalities. Aging on a blend of French and toasted oak chips infuses a subtle oak and vanilla character into Yeti’s already intense chocolate, roasted coffee malt flavor and hugely assertive hop profile. Who says you can’t tame a Yeti? 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Very dark brown with a moderate lighter brown head. Not nearly as oily looking as the Nogne O. Buttery oak vanilla aroma mingles with bitter chocolate and figgy fruit. Soft oaky entry leads the palate into bitter chocolate and coffee with plenty of fig jam and a touch of tobacco. Creamy but not as mouth-filling as the Nogne O. Finish is not as bitter either but is in good enough balance to keep the overall sweetness from becoming too much.

Dark as hades, yet sweet as heaven. This highly drinkable stout would get along well with a rare cut of anything or by itself as is. Great Divide contines to impress.

Black. Thin dark brown head. Aroma of alcohol and esters. Malty chocolate and coffee flavor. Smoky toffee finish, long-lasting.

650 ml bottle. Pours a dense abyss like black with a dense long lived tan head. Earthy nose with coffee, chocolate and vanilla notes. Heavy otherwise smooth body. A wall of flavor highlighting chocolate, licorice, coffee and vanilla offset by an ample hop profile. Nice dry finish on an intense beast of a beer.

Bottle. Almost black with a big, lacing light brown head. Intense chocolate vanilla aroma, but also noticeable alcohol. Chocolate, modest coffee, strong vanilla flavours, solid hop bitterness. Rummy flavours. Nice creamy texture. A monster of a beer!

(11.28.08) 1 pt 6 oz bottle. Black pour with a large, brown head that mostly falls away. Little lacing. Complex aroma: vanilla, chocolate, roasty malts, and a ton of hops. Sweet flavor, with plenty of chocolate and hops. Finish doesn’t last too long. Delicious beer, but not my favorite imperial stout.

650 ml bottle shared with Bananaman. Pours a dark black color with a thick, brown head. Looks really nice in the glass imo, you definitely want to taste it! Aroma of vanilla, oak, hops (citrus), fudge, toffee and dark chocolate. Very nice smell, so for no wrong. Flavour is of hard roasted malt, coffee, almost tar, lots of citrus hops, with a BIG, and I mean, BIG bitterness. Lots of burnt notes aswell. I would say this is a bit too bitter and hoppy for my taste. Mouthfeel is quite good though, it’s very filling with a big body, almost sticky, but I must say it’s a bit "harsh" also. Not that drinkable... Well... I don’t think the hard roasted malts is working with the big bitterness in the taste as well as you can hope for. I thought this one would be a bit more "rounded" and mellow due to the oak aging process. Still a good imperial stout, it smells and looks excellent, though it doesn’t live up to the "hype".
