The initial taste is wow! The nose is silky smooth w/ lots of malty sweetness. The powerful malt character melds perfectly with the hops. The bitterness builds as you drink more of this and as it warms. The interplay between the malts and hops at different temps is a nice effect. The beer has plenty of staying power on the palate. This is the way that big tasting beer should be as it nails the the big hops and the big malts and bundles it in a nice package. By far my favorite. paytoplay (123), , California, USA

Not to mention Oak aged. Some wood and smoke are present, and the texture if really awesome. Worth seeking out. NomDeBeer (399), Maryland, USA

Pours silky black with a rocky tan head that lasts. Flavor of milk chocolate and vanilla, the combination of which creates a bit of coconut flavor. The finish and aftertaste are probably the best parst of this one -roasted malts, bitter dark chocolate and hoppy bite. Full-bodied with a velvety mouth feel. The alcohol is very well hidden. Damn good beer. A fresh bottle of this can be a bit overpowering for me. But a bottle that’s been cellared for one year is great. This deep, aromatic bitter chocolate and nut head with a smooth and vanilla draw was a delight. I cherised the consumption of this imperial, imperial stout RedXIII (127), Powell, Ohio, USA

Only knock is that the aroma is a bit faint but just need to let it open. Pour is black and thick with an aromatic head. Flavor is amazing. Chocolate, creamy expresso. I really didn’t taste a lot of hops; very malty, creamy and smooth. Finish left the mouth with a very flavorful, creamy chocolate treat. Amazing. dogfish120love (257), west hartford, Connecticut, USA

After removing the shards I have to admit this is a solid imperial Stout but I expected a little more, probly because I heard so many good things about it. I definetly will give it another try and rerate it alexsdad06 (1079), Ohio, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 2, 2008 22 oz. bottle. Pours black with a medium sized tan head with good lacing. The aroma has alot going on; vanilla, caramel, dark fruits, moderately sweet malt, and oak. The flavor has many of the qualities of the nose: caramel malt, chocolate, some roated character. As you continue drinking, the vanilla, dark fruits, and some alcohol show through. The oak ageing provides an overall smoothness not found in the regular Yeti. Medium/full bodied and for a bigger beer very easy to drink. I’m not sure which one I like more this or regular Yeti. This is a solid brew. BigBang (210), Indiana, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 2, 2008 This is night and day from the standard Yeti. So much smoother and more refined. The licorice flavor is not so dominant and the deeper complexity of flavors shines more brightly. Palate is still fine - not the oily thickness of Dark Lord or Founders Breakfast but very respectable. I’d drink this one again anytime but not the standard Yeti.
