Flavor is toasted nut, coffee, chocolate and towards then end a lot of vanilla. Very smooth texture that coats the palate. The alcohol just warms the soul from start to finish. One time, when I was working for a macro-brewery, the brewmaster made us take chocolate malts and chew on them raw. This beer tasted a lot like that: really roasted, earthy, and extremely dry and bitter. This poured extremely black with a quickly dissolving deep tan head. Could not initially get any smell whatsoever, so I let it warm up a bit. Pulled some vanilla out, but the oak barrel smell dominated. Epic alcohol bite. Would like to try this in the bottle and compare. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 24, 2008 Very very good imperial stout! Poured a nice dark brown almost black. I could smell the smokiness with hints of chocolate. The flavor was well balenced having an aftertaste of vanilla, which was unexpected. The palate was nice and somewhat thick. A must try beer! I wish these were sold around here in jamestown, perhaps at a wegmans..... grimreeser (796), Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 24, 2008 Pours night black with a nice light coffee head. Aroma of chocolate, oak, vanilla, coffee and a bit of grapefruit hop. A bit harsh and alcholic mouthfeel. Taste is the same as aroma but with too much of an alcoholic bite that got sickly sweet as it warmed. Nicely complex though. undsioux7 andersand (306), Malmö, Sweden

Candy like with dark berries. Full bodied and think, taste is complex yet very robust and roasted. Delivers what the aroma promises with a good amount of chocolate, wood and hops in the aftertaste. One of my favourites. Veer (355), Landskrona, Sweden
