imadeadguy (378), back in NJ!, New Jersey, USA Apr 16, 2008 Pours deep black with lacy brown head. Aromas of rosted malt, alcohol, and chocolate. Flavors of coffee, chocolate, oak, malt, and alcohol. Intense brew here. Great flavors for a stout, like it should be. emarkd (24), Georgia, USA Apr 15, 2008 22oz Bomber poured into a snifter. Pours completely black, opaque with a dark tan head. Aroma is woody and grassy with a touch of chocolate. Beer is thick with a nice, full mouthfeel. Flavor is slightly sweet with a touch of earthiness, chocolate. Also very prevalent is the taste of the oak wood. It lends a bourbon-like flavor. The hops come through in the end for a pretty dry, bitter finish. Good but I’m not sure it’s worth the 50% price premium. cameraman (7), Crestwood, Kentucky, USA does not count Apr 15, 2008 A deep black color with hints of brown, a small beige head forms and disappates quickly. The sweet smell of malt and chocolate, with the added aroma of charred wood, that also adds a vanilla scent. The hops are in there in the aroma, but seem to be over powered by the wood and alchol aromas. The flavor brings in the aromas on the palate with the hops being more prevalent in the taste. The oak wood flavor becomes stronger after every sip. In the mouth it feels a little thinner than the non aged Yeti, alot like skim milk, with some evidence of carbonation, but not alot. This is a drinkable beer, but drink slowly. The strong alchol, flavors and texture, make this a sipping beer by a nice warm fire.
Enjoyit (1695), Vadum, Denmark Apr 14, 2008 Black of color with a huge brown head. An aroma of roasted malt, choclate, coffee, liqurice and alcohol notes. A flavor of coffee, liqurice and has a lovely oily texture. mugabe (215), Sweden Apr 12, 2008 Bottle. Brown/black, mighty brown head. Chocolate/leather aroma. Flavour of chocolate, more chocolate, hops, leather, tar, motor oil and vanilla, but somewhat lacking subtlety in the mouthfeel.. Creamy finish with some dry hops. The ordinary Yeti is more unrefined but more interesting, actually. Great beer, but hard to find. Got mine at Barley Wine in Copenhagen. Beerbirder (5), Miami Lakes, Florida, USA does not count Apr 11, 2008 Loved the flavor, pours like motor oil and nice tan head. Definitely a satisfying beer!
ketchepillar (475), Viña del Mar, Chile Apr 10, 2008 Aroma is not what I expected. Rather light and fruity. Some good hops still hanging around. Flavor is much more what I’d expect. Starts very chocolaty, hints of the barrel but all that much, Finish has a ton of bitter malt, which I love, but it’s actually a bit astringent. hillfiiiiire (283), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Apr 9, 2008 Pours pitch black with a nice tan head. Smells of oak chips and goodness. Some bourbon in the nose, but not overpowering. I am getting some nice hops there too. Flavor is chocolate, hops, mocha, bourbon. It finishes with a nice bourbon warming and hop bitter. It stays there for a while. It is really quite a nice balance of all its ingredients, and it’s so easy to drink. Top notch brew here.
