Commercial Description:
Crack open Yeti Imperial Stout’s sophisticated sibling -- Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout. Although these beers come from the same clan, they have entirely different personalities. Aging on a blend of French and toasted oak chips infuses a subtle oak and vanilla character into Yeti’s already intense chocolate, roasted coffee malt flavor and hugely assertive hop profile. Who says you can’t tame a Yeti? 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

There is so much going on with this one but here is my take: if you love oak flavor, this is the beer for you! amazingly oaky taste and aroma and sadly this much oak isn’t my bag. It looks fantastic and has a great mouth feel though!

Bomber. Pours pitch black with a dark tan head. Aroma of burnt malt, coffee, chocolate, oak and hops. Flavor is burnt malt, chololate, coffee and bug flavors of hops and charded oak. Finishes rich and creamy. Alcohol comes thru at very end. Big, big beer and by far the most balanced BA beer i ever had.

Pours black and thick like motor oil, with almost no head. Smells like sawdust and oil-based wood stain. Flavor has some chocolate, vanilla and coffee, but the oak pretty much overpowers this brew. Palate is great...smooth and creamy. Overall an interesting beer, albeit not one of my favorites. In fact, I preferred the non-oak aged Yeti to this one.

Poured a pitch black with a really attractive dark tan head that leaves some fine lacing. The aroma is of chocolate, coffee, vanilla, oak, and some subtle, yet clear hop bitterness that you wouldn’t normally associate with a stout. The flavor definitely expands upon the aroma - the oak is more noticeable, and evolves into a bit of a vanilla flavor. The chocolate and roasted malt character are both petty pronounced, while the coffee takes a back seat to the other flavors. The hop bitterness is still present - lots and lots of hop sweetness, but this is balanced pretty well by the hop flavors, especially in the bitter finish. The palate is great, very rich and creamy. Very good beer overall, though I would like to do a side by side with the standard yeti.

Aroma of roasted malts, a touch of vanilla, a bit of chocolate, and just the slightest hint of oak. Pours a beautiful opaque black with a huge tan head. Taste wise, the oak is much more noticeable here, and blends well with the chocolate and coffee notes of the stout. Wonderful full, creamy palate, with a nice long bitter finish. Very, very nice.

My 999th rating! From a bottle, poured a beautiful oily black color with a brown head, mild lacing. It had very little carbonation. Aroma was sweet with chocolate, rich dark-roast coffee all balance out by mild oak notes and alcohol. Flavor was rich, with all the good things that make this style great. It did seem sweeter with chocolate notes then coffee notes. Oak notes were mild in the finish but if anything was missing from Yeti Imperial Stout it was mild oak notes in the finish. Full body and rich, left me wanting more.
