crazyvin (1245), New York, USA Mar 20, 2008 My 999th rating! From a bottle, poured a beautiful oily black color with a brown head, mild lacing. It had very little carbonation. Aroma was sweet with chocolate, rich dark-roast coffee all balance out by mild oak notes and alcohol. Flavor was rich, with all the good things that make this style great. It did seem sweeter with chocolate notes then coffee notes. Oak notes were mild in the finish but if anything was missing from Yeti Imperial Stout it was mild oak notes in the finish. Full body and rich, left me wanting more. Slayer85 (582), Firenze, Italy Mar 19, 2008 Bottled. An impenetrable black as coal beer with a medium sized but quickly disappearing brown head. Intense aroma of wood, but balanced by notes of coffee, dark and milk chcocolate, fruits and light hops. The flavour has some vinous characteristics and is woody, with coffee and chocolate notes. Quite balanced sweetness and some acidity. Creamy mouthfeel, full body or near, low carbonation, long finish with medium bitterness. Lightly alcocholic. Very smooth and enjoyable, about at the same level of the regular Yeti (that maybe I slightly prefer). I hope to have it soon available in Italy. DDMcGarry (4), USA does not count Mar 17, 2008 Enjoyed from the taproom as well as in bottles and the Yeti Imperial Stout is always a great beer. Delicious and the bitterness is not overpowering. Drink slow and enjoy with desert. The thick roasted malt provides a heavly desert in itself. yespr (11613), Copenhagen O, Denmark Mar 17, 2008 1 pt 6 fl oz bottle. Pours perfectly black to brown with a dense dark chocolate creamy head. Vanilla, chocolate, light wood, roasted malt and a solid hops aroma. Very complex and somewhat overpowering hoppy aroma. Flavour starts sweet, shows roasted notes, smooth chocolate with a distinct vanilla note. Finish holds a solid and heavily bitter hops flavour with a mild wood note. Smooth at first and then the hops blew this brew totally out of balance. Sorry - starts great but simply gets too intense - towards brutal. I lack all sort of balance here. Yet the base is nice but a fraction of hops could have been enough. The flavour experience gets more smooth the more I drink of this - but that must be because my tastebuds have been knocked out quite early. BeerFanDan17 (610), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Mar 17, 2008 Excellent stout I’ve been meaning to try for quite some time. Served in the bottle (22oz.) at my local tap house. Poured dark as night with very little head. Flavors were rich, sweet, and bitter with roasted vanilla and toffee or hazelnut noticeable. handsomejn (26), Arkansas, USA Mar 16, 2008 This beer was brought to me from outside Arkansas. We, unfortunately can’t buy it here. This beer pours a beautiful syrupy black, totally opaque, thick and rich. It has a frothy dark beige top, and leaves a great pattern on the glass, especially when the initial pour settles. There is the flavor of toasted oak and creamy Kailua coffee liqueur up front. Immediately behind that is a sweet dark chocolate. After you drink, the vanilla flavor invades the sinus. I don’t know if I tasted it or smelled it on the exhale, but it was wonderful. The hops are invisible, as is the taste of alcohol, until well into the aftertaste, but the hops are quite present there. I tasted the hops long after the drink. This is a world class beer, one of the best ever. It is sweet, complex and wonderful. colts9016 (198), Idaho, USA Mar 15, 2008 Pour: Deep dark brown with a thick and creamy dark tan head.
Nose. Toasted, caramelized, chocolate malt, floral, pine, coffee, vanilla, and oak.
Taste: A deep immense chocolate and coffee flavor followed up by a complex malt characters. There are subtle hop undertones with hints of vanilla, oak and spice.
Body: Thick, chewy, and creamy.
Finish: Slightly bitter and acidic with a lasting impression on the palate.
Overall: A great beer that should achieve some recognition. My hat goes off to Great Divide. garthicus (1215), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 14, 2008 Thanks so much to Hogtownharry. The first beer after my 5 week break. Aged 2 years. Wonderful hop-honey aroma, burnt chocolate and coffee. Jet black with small but present frothy tan head. WOW, a spicey chocolate mouthful, sharp on the tip of the tongue and warm and chocolatey on its way down, nutmeg, coffee and toffee in there too. The alcohol is hidden exceptionally well. What a truely great imperial stout. Perfect for a celebration on a cold day like today. Thanks Harry.
