Commercial Description:
Crack open Yeti Imperial Stout’s sophisticated sibling -- Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout. Although these beers come from the same clan, they have entirely different personalities. Aging on a blend of French and toasted oak chips infuses a subtle oak and vanilla character into Yeti’s already intense chocolate, roasted coffee malt flavor and hugely assertive hop profile. Who says you can’t tame a Yeti? 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Bottle brought home from Seattle, WA last Summer. When first opened there was almost zero fizz, which had me concerned at first, however, after pouring it in the glass it formed a wonderfully dark tan foamy head which has remained remarkably well. Dark as sin in color, with no light passing it through when held up to a light bulb. Slight roasted malty aroma. Flavor is absolutely stunning!! They say it used subtle toasted oak chips, but to me it tastes like it was aged in a bourbon barrell for quite some time. Don’t get me wrong. That’s NOT a complaint. I really dig the flavor. I only with I’d bought a non-oak aged one to compare with, but such is life! Amongst the bourbon-like flavor is the traditional high malt content as expected. Would really like to see what this would be like after aging a few years. Thought its highly hopped, it doesn’t have nearly the hop charactor of a Bigfoot barley wine does. Alcohol flavor lingers on the palate for a bit. Its a keeper!!

The malt, coffee, chocolate, HOPS, molasses, and oak all come together splendidly in this brew. Has more hops than I prefer in a stout but wonderful none the less. Definitely not a quick drinker, took me and 3 friends a while to get through this bottle, almost like a good scotch, just a sip here and there.

No light getting through this brew, and barely any escaping the clutches of its frothy, dark head. No slouching on the aroma, either. Molasses, sweet malts, roasted coffee, smoke, chocolate, oak, raisin, and earth. Thick, creamy body. Flavor is full of roasted malts, earth tones, oak, molasses, chocolate. Finish is long and biting. The alcohol is hidden well beneath the roasted malts and molasses. An intense and delicious stout.

From a 22oz bottle. Pours a dark brown with thin tan head. Aroma is similiar to the regular yetti but now with a noticable oak character. Flovor is also a step up from the regular yeti. All flavors seem to melt together and are alot more balnced than the non-oaked. Very creamy mouthfeel. Alcohol is well hidden and this beer can creep up and slap you in the face.

You’ll love it or hate it...there will not be an in between. This beer is aggressive to say the least and you can’t miss the oak in the Oak-Aged Yeti. Dark, smoky, rich, intense...definitely an experience you won’t forget!!!

OAK they aren’t kidding... subtle oak is by far an understatement. after adjusting to the oak coffe, tobacco, alcohol and molases/brown sugar come through in both taste and in aroma. lacking the "chew" that I would look for in a stout that is rated this highly.

Aroma: starts off dominated by oak, and to my nose earthy hops. Eventually coffee, raisin, and lots of alcohol come through. pours very nicely thick, creamy looking with a big frothy head. flavor is first oaky, with earthy hops, but eveutally hits vanilla midpalate, along with some coffee. as the beer finishes the flavor heads more towards raisin, and molasses. mouthfeel is thick, but not silky. overall its good, but not amazing.

Bottle: Poured a dark thick black with a creamy tan head. The aroma is rich with roasted malt and dark chocolate. Taste is harsh to the tongue to open the buds to the rich coffee bean malt and lively hops. Finish is dry and coffee. A gift from the wife for Christmas!
