doubleo (1096), San Diego, California, USA Jan 8, 2008 Pours a deep syrupy black color with thick brown head. Smells dark and sugary. A bit of coffe on the nose as well. Tastes of dark coffee flavors. Surprisingly, I get a bit of citrusy hops as well. I don’t taste much oak at all which I think is fine because this beer is pretty good as it is. Thick and syrupy, good crisp carbonation though that breaks it up a bit. Coats the mouth pretty well. Very good beer, but too much of it would kill me, well mostly my tastebuds. jsh12bama (335), Alabama, USA Jan 7, 2008 Black pour with tan head. Aroma of oak, vanilla, hops, and chocolate. Taste of hops, vanilla and hint of oak. Nice thick mouthfeel. Been awhile since I have had this, forgot how hoppy this is. I really enjoyed the kick of hops mixed with the oak and vanilla. Great beer!! jhagmar (114), Gothenburg, Sweden Jan 6, 2008 Bottle. Thanks to ekstedt. Brownish black with a brown head. Aroma of hops, alcohol, coconut, vanilla and plums. Impressive bitterness, though milder than regular Yeti. Some sweetness. Fizzy mouthfeel. kmeves (1080), Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA Jan 6, 2008 Deep brown color with just a hint of red, big tannish frothy head with lacing. Aroma of vanilla, coffee and chocolate and little oak. Flavor was strong with oodles of roastiness and coffee at the start and finishing with chocolate and vanilla. Drier in the finish than I would have expected. Heavy mouthfeel, medium carbonation. johndavidj99 (123), Township, Maine, USA Jan 5, 2008 Updated: Feb 29, 2008I don’t know how an American ISA can get any better than this. Dark tar appearance with a nice cola head. Vanilla and Chocolate nose. Great texture and wonderful Chocolate and Vanilla taste. WOW! kerplun1 (11), New York, USA Jan 4, 2008 Don’t have much to add here as far as description that hasn’t already been said many times over. Hit the spot perfectly for what I was looking for tonight. A bit too much alcohol in the nose, and maybe a tad more hoppy than i’d desire it to be but it was a treat to have. I’ve been enjoying it and will look to get it again; a great beer. MOboy (446), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Jan 4, 2008 Very dar k brown in appearance with a tan, fluffy foam. Salty aroma that makes me think of an Expedition Stout. roasty, vanilla, bourbon and woody. Alcohol played a tad bit too big of a role and i think this could have aged a year and been even more complete. ekstedt (2411), Göteborg, Sweden Jan 4, 2008 Updated: Oct 21, 2009Bottle (65 cl) from Systembolaget. Deep black with brown head. Rounded roasted malt aroma with coffee, coconuts and wood. Very thick body with smooth mouthfeel. Good balance, the bitterness is damped compared to the regular yeti. But top 50, I think not.
New rating 2009-10-21. Heavy wood and coconut notes. Dry and a bit harsh. Did not like it at all this time. 5/4/7/5/10->3.1.
