Commercial Description:
Crack open Yeti Imperial Stout’s sophisticated sibling -- Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout. Although these beers come from the same clan, they have entirely different personalities. Aging on a blend of French and toasted oak chips infuses a subtle oak and vanilla character into Yeti’s already intense chocolate, roasted coffee malt flavor and hugely assertive hop profile. Who says you can’t tame a Yeti? 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Opaque black on the pour with dark brown head that retians well and leaves nice lace. Nose is rich with nougat and dark chocolate. Palate is big on roasty/chocolatey flavors, with a citrusy hop flavor that cuts through the roasty flavors too much for me. I don’t like fruit in my chocolate desserts - just give me the chocolate, fudge, whatever. Here the citrusy hops come through too much and influence the overall flavor away from being a sweet dessert stout.

black with a thick tan head. Aroma is hoppy, chocolate and coffee are also present. Hops, coffee, chocolate, toffee, and vanilla. I was expecting a tad more oak presence. Very creamy, slightly carbonated. Very nice.

Pours jet black. Very aggressive pour gives 1.5 fingers of very creamy, dark tan head. Very unusual amount of head for an imp stout. Aroma of dark cherries, semi sweet chocolate, coffee, very slight hint of hop. Flavor has strong coffee personality. Good chocolate foundation and malty goodness and vanilla. Bitter finish of the hops brings it home. Much more hoppy then most imps. Great mouth feel. Very thick and coats as an imp should. A little rough around the edges. Slightly too hoppy for me as I like my imps a little more tame on the finish. All in all, delicious brew!

Rating # 3 from the danish beer festival 2009. Looking back now, this was the best of the evening! Rich and complex aroma of mild sweet chocolate, some fruity vinouse esters along with cofee andenglish liqurice. Incredible smooth palate soft with an exploding smoothness. Lots of sweet notes, chocolate mainly mixed with bitter hops that are felt in the flavor. Looking forward to a full bottle someday!

Bottle @ Taco Mac. Black motor oil appearance with tan head. Burnt, roasted aroma. Oak, cocoa and coffee notes in the nose as well. First taste is a dash of toffee and heavy malts, followed by the strong hoppy bitterness. Long, bitter finish. Full-bodied and creamy. Hints of toffee. A good stout, but because of the high IBU count it is distinct from many traditional stouts.
