COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Crack open Yeti Imperial Stout’s sophisticated sibling -- Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout. Although these beers come from the same clan, they have entirely different personalities. Aging on a blend of French and toasted oak chips infuses a subtle oak and vanilla character into Yeti’s already intense chocolate, roasted coffee malt flavor and hugely assertive hop profile. Who says you can’t tame a Yeti? 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Fantastic. One of the best Imperial Stouts I’ve had, which was at the brewery. Nice roasted and sweet aroma. Very dark with a brown lacing, virtually no head. The flavors were complex but balanced. Roasted malts, wood, some alcohol but not much. A caramel sweetness came and went. Very deep flavors.

Bottle at BruFrou. Pitch black rusty tan head and a rich savory aroma featuring licorice, cacao and oak. Great full body, drinks smooth with a 90% cacao, roasted notes and oaky elements. Great.

Big bottle. Bottled on: oct 21 2015. Poured into tulip glass. Big dark tan head settles slowly. Some lacing. Beer is almost black in color. Malty aroma with notes of dark chocolate. Taste is medium bitter and lightly sweet with notes of chocolate and strong notes of oak. Medium bodied beer with average carbonation. Thicker texture. Over all a tasty beer.

650 mL bottle poured into a Kuhnhenn snifter. Bottled 10/7/2011. Originally reviewed 4/8/2013. Pours with a big mocha head. Settles to just a collar, but a nice one. Just a couple of flecks of lace. Smell has oak and lots of black patent malt. Slightly grassy nose to it. Very chocolatey. Taste has oak immediately present again, but dies down to a more standard Yeti flavor. Still very green, almost grassy. Chocolatey and bitter. A variety of bitternesses. Oak bitterness, hop bitterness, and malt bitterness. Abrasive bitterness, but nice body. Medium carbonation. All these Yeti beers have the same grassy bitterness that I don’t welcome in a stout. I get that it’s an RIS, but it’s over the top. The oakiness doesn’t smooth it out at all, just adds to it.

Echt.

Bottle from trade with HenrikO, many thanks! The beer has got a deep blackcolour with a smooth body and steady head. Aroma of chocolate and malt. Taste of bittersweet chocolate, roasted malt, woods, pine, dark coffee, roasted espresso beans, barley and oak. Hints of barrel and vanilla. Smooth and intense. Delicious.

Originally rated on 7/30/08. esterday I tried the yeti imp. stout, so today its the oak aged yeti’s turn. Like Y.I.S it pours a coal black body with a thin dark tan cap. The aroma immediatley hits you, vanilla, coffee, alcohol and a little fruit are present. The mouthfeel is thick and creamy, Flavor is complex with coffee, vanilla, chocolate and fruits all fighting for attention. Overall i like it (oak aged)better than the regular yeti, the coffee isnt as dominant, its more flavorful and smoother, you cant go wrong with either one though. Although its pricey it is a good beer thats worth your time.

Hell, I don’t know. There are so many different versions of Yeti that I think I’d have to have a flight of all of them at once to be able to tell a difference. I love the oak aged chocolate version and the espresso version. This one is good, too, but I don’t know that I noticed anything distinctly different here. It pours dark brown, average tan head. The aroma is oak and chocolate and coffee and all the stuff I expected. The taste is the same. And it’s really good, And I expected it to be really good. All I need to see on the label is "Yeti," and at this point I know I’m gonna enjoy it. I don’t know that we need seventy slightly different variants.
