Crack open Yeti Imperial Stout’s sophisticated sibling -- Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout. Although these beers come from the same clan, they have entirely different personalities. Aging on a blend of French and toasted oak chips infuses a subtle oak and vanilla character into Yeti’s already intense chocolate, roasted coffee malt flavor and hugely assertive hop profile. Who says you can’t tame a Yeti? 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

22oz bomber. Drinking it to celebrate the end of Spring Semester. Pours dark, oily black/brown. Very opaque. Head is thoroughly brown with a rusty red tinge. Such a great looking beer. Aroma is slight chocolate and coffee but with a dry, woody scent. Mouthfeel is creamy, rich and slightly oily. Taste is chocolate, oak, a bit of malt, coffee. The hops are in the background. Not as dark as I expected but not in a bad way. Similar to a blend of milk chocolate shake and a shot of espresso. The alcohol is hidden pretty well and it is a fairly mellow beer. Guessing because of the barrel aging. This is a fantastic beer and makes me appreciate that there are beers out there like this. One of the top 10 beers that I’ve tried. If you can find it, buy it.

Big beer. So much flavor. Hops are very noticable but small enough to not hide the flavor.

On draft. Aroma of loamy, oaky earth. Flavors of weak espresso, earthy mushrooms and... truffles? Biggest flavor is what I imagine oak would taste like. Delightful.

Pour is a beautiful pitch black with a dark tan head. Amazing looking beer. Leaves fantastic lacing too. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, oak, plums, vanilla. Taste is strong oak, and follows the aroma nicely. Dry, bitter fnish. Delicious.

What a treat. Rich colour and taste. From the dark cascading pour to the delicious last sip, a fantastic experience. Big thanks to the artisans in the 80205. Tells me those jokers in Golden have no excuse. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
