Commercial Description:
Crack open Yeti Imperial Stout’s sophisticated sibling -- Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout. Although these beers come from the same clan, they have entirely different personalities. Aging on a blend of French and toasted oak chips infuses a subtle oak and vanilla character into Yeti’s already intense chocolate, roasted coffee malt flavor and hugely assertive hop profile. Who says you can’t tame a Yeti? 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

[Sampled tap at the brewery, thanks to Brian Dunn] A pitch black beer with a nice orange-brown head. The aroma is grassy combined roasted notes of chocolate. The flavor is sweet with loads of chocolate and loads of fresh hops, leading to a dry woody and hoppy finish. A fantastic beer, that came thru even though my expectations were high. Someday I want to try it side by side with the normal Yeti.

(Bottle 65 cl) Pours black and opaque with a creamy, light brown head leaving a neat lacework. Very sophisticated, vinous and raisiny aroma. Rich and full body with a rather refined and complex malt structure. Port-like with notes of raisins and rum. Lightly hoppy malt finish where some oak appears. 030606

Bottled, thanks JCW! Very black with beige head. Woody licorice aroma. Sweet and extremely rich with loads of chocolate, licorice and menthe. Despite the intensity of the flavours sweetness takes the upper hand in the finish.

1 pt 6 fl oz bottle. Pours perfectly black to brown with a dense dark chocolate creamy head. Vanilla, chocolate, light wood, roasted malt and a solid hops aroma. Very complex and somewhat overpowering hoppy aroma. Flavour starts sweet, shows roasted notes, smooth chocolate with a distinct vanilla note. Finish holds a solid and heavily bitter hops flavour with a mild wood note. Smooth at first and then the hops blew this brew totally out of balance. Sorry - starts great but simply gets too intense - towards brutal. I lack all sort of balance here. Yet the base is nice but a fraction of hops could have been enough. The flavour experience gets more smooth the more I drink of this - but that must be because my tastebuds have been knocked out quite early.

Bottle. Black color, big lasting brown head. Sweet chocolate, fruitiness and a bit oak as well in the smell. Sweet chocolate and coffee taste with a bit burnt aftertaste, also with some sweet and sour cherries. Very big mouthfeel. Big bitterness.

Bottled. Black, opaque colour with huge brown head. Chocolate, coffee, toffee and alcohol with some licorace in the aroma. A lot of wooden hints also as it gets warmer. Flavour is the same in a very wellbalanced mix, that hides alcohol well. Also a lot of smokiness in the flavour. A lot of vanilla and caramel in the aftertaste along with some roasted hints.
