Commercial Description:
Crack open Yeti Imperial Stout’s sophisticated sibling -- Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout. Although these beers come from the same clan, they have entirely different personalities. Aging on a blend of French and toasted oak chips infuses a subtle oak and vanilla character into Yeti’s already intense chocolate, roasted coffee malt flavor and hugely assertive hop profile. Who says you can’t tame a Yeti? 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Bomber thanks to 5000. Pours a dark brown with a nice beige/brown head. The aroma is mostly oak, with some burnt malts and vanilla. The taste is similar, fruit, smoked oak chips, chocolate, vanilla, a really creamy mouthfeel that is awesome. A great beer. Better than the original, I’m not sure, let’s just say both are amazing.

many thanks goes to footbalm for hooking this up.the oaked yeti poured a super black with a nice looking 1/2 inch chocolate head.as the head sat it left nice lacing/webbing.when it comes to looks, you cant get much better than this.as i gave it a wiff my nose picked up oak, chocolate, canilla, smoke, gram crackers, and hops.honestly, more hops than i usually detect in an imperial stout.now for the first sip.....wow!loads of oak and vanillafollowed by some pine-ish hops, smoke, chocolate, roasted malts, bitter chocolate...damn.like the energizer bunny, this just keeps going and going.the mouthfeel was very full and coated the inside of my mouth and throat.this is a big beer, for big beer drinkers for sure.although as other people have stated,it has just a little to much hops for me.other than that....i cant complain.

Probably a 2006 bottle. Blackish color with a small, but lasting tan head. Aroma is thick with chocolate and really dark well roasted malts, plus lots of oak, cream, some vanilla, and a bit of coffee. Flavor has a nice roasty-chocolate bite with just enough woody-smoky-creamy taste. Just a bit of alcohol detectable with a smooth, but full bodied finish. Really, really good - pretty much a tie with the regular Yeti overall, but this one is better for those nights you want some wood flavor (as opposed to a creamier, hoppier regular version). Well done!

Much thanks goes out to Mustang3 for sharing this. You da man Kevin! Pours an opaque black body, with a thick and bubble mocha head. Tons of bubles! Aromas are coffee, molasses, chocolate, some oak, and mint. A nice array. Taste is bitter chocolate, coffee, roasted oaky malts. Very good. FInish is bitter, astringent, with an espresso aftertaste. A great rare treat. Thanks so much Kevin, I appreciate it.

(Bottle at The Rover, Göteborg) Pours black with a brown head. Aroma of buttery, vanilla-ish oak with some mint. Fruity with some raspberries. Smokey tobacco. Some tar. Wet asphalt and a bit salty. Resiny, soily hops. Some chocolate. Jelly beans and swedish hallon båtar and gelé hallon. Liquorice and crispbread with caviar. Some dill. Flavour of liquorice and warming alcohol. Oaky buttery and vanilla ending. Coffee-beans. Salty. A bit smokey and fiery. Big, BIG resiny afterbitterness. Great Divine body. (Bottle) New rating: Pours black with a brown head. Roasted, a bit dusty malt aroma with a great deal of vanilla, coco nut-ish oak. Liquorice, tar, coffee and chocolate are also present. Fruity undertones of pears and some other more subtle. A bit salty and some hints of dill. Some hops with tones of pine and light grapefruit. Quite sweet. Good balance between the medium sweet and the medium to full bitter in the flavour. Liquorice, tar chocolate and some caramel. The bitterness is rather grapefruity and piny. Salty and bitter aftertaste. Thick and a bit oily mouthfeel. Near full, compact body.

bottle. Oh Yeti, how I love thee. pours stark opaque black with a ridiculous dense dark tan head. The aroma is hugely powerful, it knocks me back with an onslaught of sweet barley and oak. Closer inspection reveals some piny hops in the mix. The flavor is gigantic with tons of caramel and chocolate covered by more than ample smoky, woody hops. This is a powerful brew. [Addendum: March 21, ’07] Picked up another bottle of this in my hometown, it’s rare to get good beers around here, so it was just a matter of time. This a very solid imperial stout. It is just a shade friendlier than the regular Yeti Stout, but still has the assertive hop character and dense, full-bodied malt foundation. The hop edge has been replaced with a soothing bourbon character. Plenty of espresso notes abound along with hickory, slight piny hops, and the oak infused sweetness setting the base for the brew. Outstanding impy, I’m glad that out of the very few acceptable beers we get in my county (seriously, it’s not many) we get this one.

75cl bottle courtesy of markwise. Aged one year. Pours a very dark brown to black with a thick and foamy tan head that lingers and provides lacing. Aroma is coffee, oak, chocolate, toffee, vanilla. Flavor is much the same with coffee, chocolate, vanilla, maple syrup, and strong oak notes. Slight coffee bitterness on the lingering finish.

#500 courtesy of Pailhead. Pours black with a huge thick beige head. Strong aroma of chocolate, licorice, coffee and light bourbon/whiskey. Flavor is all chocolate with some coffee and hops bitterness in the finish. Very thick oily body. MI had just started to get this, since then Pailhead has picked up four more on my behalf. Very fine brew indeed.
