Crack open Yeti Imperial Stout’s sophisticated sibling -- Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout. Although these beers come from the same clan, they have entirely different personalities. Aging on a blend of French and toasted oak chips infuses a subtle oak and vanilla character into Yeti’s already intense chocolate, roasted coffee malt flavor and hugely assertive hop profile. Who says you can’t tame a Yeti? 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

22 oz bottle. Pours out like motor oil, dark and viscous with a thick chocolate brown head. Big coffee, roasted malt and chocolate aroma. The flavor is outstanding. Chocolate, coffee, roasted malt dominate the intial flavor giving way to sweet brown sugar and then deep rich piney hops and a vanilla smoothness on the finish. The palate is deep, complex and optimally carbonated. Love this beer, quite possbily the best I’ve tasted to date.

UPDATED: DEC 27, 2014 Purchased from town earlier tonight. $12.00 for the 650 mL bottle. To oversized snifter, it pours a mahogany-tinted charcoal dark brown with which an off-khaki head 1 finger in length stood. Aromas of raisins, cocoa nibs/baker’s chocolate powder, raspberries, vanillin, pumpernickel, mashed bosx pears, pipe tobacco, prunes, mint, and young oak. Tastes the same with the addition sweet potatoes, dried plantains, noble hops, coffee syrup, and London yeast. Best Great Divide beer tried thus far

Big beer. So much flavor. Hops are very noticable but small enough to not hide the flavor.

On draft. Aroma of loamy, oaky earth. Flavors of weak espresso, earthy mushrooms and... truffles? Biggest flavor is what I imagine oak would taste like. Delightful.

Pour is a beautiful pitch black with a dark tan head. Amazing looking beer. Leaves fantastic lacing too. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, oak, plums, vanilla. Taste is strong oak, and follows the aroma nicely. Dry, bitter fnish. Delicious.

What a treat. Rich colour and taste. From the dark cascading pour to the delicious last sip, a fantastic experience. Big thanks to the artisans in the 80205. Tells me those jokers in Golden have no excuse. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
