Crack open Yeti Imperial Stout’s sophisticated sibling -- Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout. Although these beers come from the same clan, they have entirely different personalities. Aging on a blend of French and toasted oak chips infuses a subtle oak and vanilla character into Yeti’s already intense chocolate, roasted coffee malt flavor and hugely assertive hop profile. Who says you can’t tame a Yeti? 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Bottle. The pour was a very thick pitch black with an average sized (1-2 finger) chocolate brown creamy head that had really good retention, reducing to a moderate sized foam cap with a large foamy collar thus producing excellent streaky lacing. The aroma was of a dark roasted malt, a resin hop and a leathery yeast with notes of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, molasses, vanilla, licorice, a bit of oak and a mild alcohol tinge. The taste was a tiny bit sweet and very malty with hints of licorice, dark chocolate and molasses from the onset and then proceeded to become a nice bitter hoppy with a big note of coffee and hints of vanilla and oak with a strong alcohol finish. The flavor hung around for a very long time with the coffee flavor taking hold as the taste of alcohol faded. Mouthfeel was full and a bit chewy in body with a texture that was smooth, creamy and a tad oily, while having a nice strong lively carbonation. Overall a brew that has everything balanced so well that it just slides down the throat leaving you wanting more...

22 oz bottle. Pours a thick black with a huge dark tan head with nice lacing. Smells of roasted coffee and a oak bbq smoker. You get roasted coffee, sweet toffee, vanilla, and citrusy hops. The palate is full bodied but not overly thick. Finishes with a nice hop bitterness that’s sticky but not dry. Wonderful stout.

Courtesy of Benzai, tasted at tderoeck’s place. Black colour, deep beige, creamy head. Deep chocolatey maltiness, chocolate cake, mocha, cold espresso, liquorice, toasted bread and - as expected - some vanilla-like oaky tannins. Big and thick, oily mouthfeel, profoundly malty with nuttiness and big black chocolate presence, spicy accents, strong and mouth filling roasted black coffee bitterness increasing towards the end; far away in the back, the oaky tannins appear again, but in a way more subtle than I got used to from oak-aged stouts, could have been a bit more for me. Nevertheless, this is clearly a big stout in all respects, flawless, impressive, deep and rich. Lovely.

Bottle shared with tderoeck, 77ships and Alengrin @ Tim needs to get rid of his ticks tasting. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized dark brown head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma is malts, roasted malts lightly, coffee strongly. Taste malts, medium coffee, some roast, strong bitter. Medium to full body and carbonation. Pretty damn good, although I don’t get the oak aging that clearly.

I?m not sure why, but I really enjoyed this. I?m usually not someone for bitterness, or for non-coffee stouts, but this beer won me over on the first sip.

Amazing aroma of vanilla, chocolate and coffee. Great looking beer pours and ebony color with a lasting tan well laced head. Creamy feel with a smoky, chocolate taste. Mildly bitter finish.

Pours a dead black. Pours thick as tar (in a good way). Thick coffee stained foam lingers. Smells of creamy chocolate, sweet oak barrel and bourbon ( from hot alcohol scent). Very creamy and thick mouthfeel. Taste of bitter chocolate and sweet bourbon. As it warms it gains a vanilla, hot alcohol character. Really damn good oak aged stout!

A great imperial stout. Pours an incredibly thick, deep black with a thick brown head. Smells great, coffee and vanilla and peanut butter and caramel. Taste is super creamy, with lots of vanilla, oak chips and a bitter coffee finish. A bit of booze lasts to the aftertaste. Had in the bottle.
