Much like its legendary predecessors, this Yeti is big, bold and dark.  The addition of rolled oats softens Yeti’s notoriously roasty backbone and the small amount of raisins added in the brew kettle create a unique dark fruit character.  Just as admired as those that came before it, Oatmeal Yeti Imperial Stout is a softer beast.

Pitch black, aroma with mild notes of belgian yeast, chocolate, coffee. The oatmeal makes this much smoother then the original. Really good!

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel Florentin. Thanks Ariel. Black with a brown head. Aroma of roast, coffee and a dark fruit note. Sweet roasty flavor with coffee, a bit of chocolate, a bit of dark fruits, an oatmeal note and a finish with a bitter note and a light alcoholic note. Full-bodied.

October 12, 2014 bottle probably from AV3. Black pour with nice head that lasted. Aroma was coffee, roasted malt, oats, some chocolate and hops. Taste was consistent with aroma, but very strong on the roast and slight bitter finish. Oatmeal gave it a smooth and creamy texture.

UPDATED: OCT 14, 2014 bottle in a trade. thanks a lot to my scandinavian man cunningham!! shared with a friend. poured pitch black with a nice mocha coloured head (yeti is always one of the best looking stouts ever!!). sweet bakers chocolate, roasted malts, oat, raisins, red fruits, cherry, some kind of chocolate dipped plums, creme brule caramel, chocolate fudge, bit of vanilla, mocha, boy pretty damn tasty version. imo a bit better as the espresso version

12oz glass on tap. Beautiful brew on tap. Aroma is super-complex, I can’t wait to drink it! Taste is awesome, the oatmeal does soften the roasty taste of the yeti. It is still a beast, but yeah, it’s a little more tame than its cousins, and in my opinion, it’s better for it.

Bottle: Thanks Hackobock: Served in a Chouffe glass: Pitch black with brown head. Aromas of hops, roast, dark chocolate, some cacoa, hints of flowers, liquorice and something citric. Flavours of coffee, dark chocolate, bitters, hops, roast, rye, oat, some wood roast, coffee roast and light liquorice. Aftertaste is a mix of roast, bitters, spices, chocolate and cacoa with a herbal touch. Low carbo, creamy silky mouthfeel, full bodied and a creamy oily texture. Lovely stuff!

In the aroma, I can smell the raisins right away. I am also getting some oatmeal, a lot of roast and booze. Slightly hoppy aroma, not much different from other Yetis. Appearance is black with a clingy tan head. Tastes like Yeti Light - I could chug this. Sweeter than other Yetis because of the oats, the raisins make a slight appearance in the after taste. Hoppy and roasty finish. I like this one more than regular and oak aged Yeti, but not as much as chocolate. Overall a very good beer.

Quite solid, but a bit boozy, and could definitely benefit from aging. Not sure if I’m getting the "raisins" part either in the flavor. But as far as imperial stouts go, this one is indeed good.

Keg at Mekong. Pours a clear dark brown with a thin creamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of rich chocolate, roast, coffee, oats. The taste is roast, chocolate, oats, nuts, sweet dark fruits. Medium bodied, mild booze, low carbonation.

Keg @ Mekong. Deep brown with a small head. Cocoa, oatmeal cookies. Rich and sweet. Flavor is similar. Pillowy oatmeal. Grain. Charred cocoa and dark chocolate. Sickly burnt sugar on the finish. Oily and sweet. Full. Definitely not my favorite of the series.

On tap, poured into a snifter. Raisin, sweet syrupy caramel, oatmeal, and a light chocolate chip touch strike the nose. It pours a deep, dark, opaque black-brown with a soapy brown head. A thin, uneven island is left on the surface which eventually reduces further to just some wisps with a thin soapy ring. A good amount of even, small-bubble lace is left behind. The taste is a medium high bitter with a medium sweet. The beer is thick and chewy with a full body and a light, fizzy carbonation. Flavors of coffee bean, oatmeal, raisin, dark cherry and a mild citrus all come through. If finishes spicy, clean, and fresh with some pine-like qualities and it leaves a clean coffee aftertaste.
