Much like its legendary predecessors, this Yeti is big, bold and dark.† The addition of rolled oats softens Yetiís notoriously roasty backbone and the small amount of raisins added in the brew kettle create a unique dark fruit character.† Just as admired as those that came before it, Oatmeal Yeti Imperial Stout is a softer beast.

A smoothness added to the aggressive underbelly of yeti. Wow! The backbone of yeti is so good, itís hard to imagine an incarnation of yeti to be nothing but a delicious brew. Expect the same motor oil black pour with tons of flavor, aroma and a subtle smoothness added by the oats...there is almost a really really faint malt tartness...acidulated malt? does anyone else notice this??

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a head of foamy finely sized dark brown colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque dark brown colored body and a fair lacing. The mild aroma was dark malt. The sharp thick crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a lingering mild roasted malt aftertaste. The yummy flavor contained notes of roasted malt sweet mild hops coffee brown malt dark malt and breads. Delicious and one I would certainly like to have again.

Pours very dark brown with a dense soapy deep tan head. The aroma has dates, figs, cream, smooth roast and a bit of licorice. It has a medium / full body that is pretty smooth and has pretty soft carbonation. The taste starts off with the dark fruits of the aroma, anise/licorice, bitter roast and coffee. The finish has apples, licorice, minerals, medicine and a weird creaminess. Not sure what I think of this one overall.

Black, kaki head. Lace. Aroma is dark malts, some herbal hops, dark fruit/berries, molasses, raison.. booze. Same taste with some citrus in finish, syrupy, bit of yeast funk, piney herbal bitter, chocolate rich malt, dryish but smooth and syrupy, pretty bitter finish. pretty boozy, with dry alcohol in finish. Rich sweet dark cherrie berry but balanced by big bitter herbal pine. Not real big on imperal stouts but ocassionally grab one, this one is pretty good. A bit syrupy- flat but silky mouthfeel , more sweet than I like. I probably would like this more if it wasnít an imperial but can appreciate it for it being an imperial. Fruit oatmeal desert stout.

On tap @ Great Divide Barrel Bar. Black pour with a khaki head. Ashy and heavy on the dark fruits. Pretty roasty and some dark chocolate and espresso. Sort of a burnt flavor. Kind of briney and perhaps has some olive character to it. Very acidic, in fact. Not really very good.

Oatmeal Yeti (with raisins) on tap. Dark, essentially black, opaque body with a light brown head. Smooth thick body with more evidence of high ABV than desired. The high ABV also has a touch more impact on the flavor than I prefer, but itís well hidden in the aroma. The raisins are not particularly evident given that some íraisiní flavor appears in many RIS ales that have no actual raisins.

Black pour with a two finger creamy to oily tan head that has great retention. Aroma is big on roast, toasted bread and bittersweet chocolate, some oxidized coffee, big toasted oatmeal, light smoke, light char. Flavor is dark caramel, roast, oily toasted grain, sweet fruity notes, light herbal, spicy and pine hops, woody char, smoke, coffee liqueur, almond toffee, a little earthy grain, charred oatmeal and light dark fruit. Heavy body, silky, creamy feel throughout light, but blanketing and slightly sharp carbonation. Very tasty stuff and a nice, silky smooth mouthfeel without the gloopy feeling that usually accompanies large additions of oatmeal.

650ml bottle enjoyed @ home. Pours black with a creamy tan head. Aroma is sweet, caramel, roasted malt, chocolate, mild coffee, raisins, vanilla and syrup. Flavour is sweet, almost too sweet, light bitter. Medium bodied, smooth, soft carbonation. Finish is sweet, canít really taste the 9.5%.

bottle shared at craigs thanks to Bruce, cheers!
hazy cola brown, thin tan lacing. burnt toast and mint on nose. mint carries o n in to flavour, cocoa, slightly astringent, thinner than expected. perhaps a duff bottle but a let down Vs great divideís other efforts.

I donít taste a tremendous amount of difference between the different variations of Great Divideís Yeti Imperial Stouts. But Iíve really enjoyed all of them, so Iím not complaining. Oatmeal Yeti might be a little less sweet than the Chocolate and Espresso variations of this stout, but itís just as rich and seems to have just as much dark chocolate presence. It pours jet black with a thin, brown head. The aroma is coffee and malt and hops. That strong, typically Yeti bitter, dark chocolate is there in the flavor. The vapor on the finish plays the 9.5% ABV card pretty clearly.
