Great Divide Old Ruffian

Pale beige head. Hazy pale brown colour. Some hints of grass and hops in the nose. Some hints of chocolate in the taste. Also some hints of prunes and sweetness in the taste. Nice hoppiness.

Pours a rich creamy maroon with big lasting dark beige head. Smell is smooth caramel and lightly fruity and subtle hops in the background. Taste is fruity, and caramelly with moderate hop flavor peaking in at the end with a nice balancing bitterness. Good creamy body and soft to medium carbonation. Overall, very smooth, and nicely flavorful with a smooth fruity caramel flavor and just enough hops to balance and provide a light lingering bitterness. Really good barley wine.

Aged this one a while, and the hops mellow out for the better. Sweetish, lightly boozy nose like sherry or port, some biscuit. Tastes mildly sweet, fruity-vinous, malty, with a fair bitterness leading to a quick bittersweet finish. Warming. Somewhat sticky yet lively mouthfeel. More fruit comes out as it warms. Enjoyable.

Aroma is impressive, very complex. Caramel, hops, fruity even. Poured a nice red color with a nice sticky head. Incredible balance with caramel, hops, and citrus fruits. 85-90 IBU’s on the bottle, but you can’t tell.

bomber. deep burnt amber color with big soapy tan head and a fair bit of stick. aroma of flowers, citrus hops and caramel. huge hops up front then hints of grapefruit and toffee. nice bitter burn to the finish. quality stuff. K-7

Poured a slightly hazy brown color with a huge fluffy tan head. Aroma was of sweet malt. Flavor was caramel malt and a slight bitterness in the finish along with some alcohol. I wasn’t too pleased with this brew considering their others (hercules and yeti).

deep ruby pour with solid head and good lacing. Aroma is malty with citrus hops. Flavor was strong with alcohol, along with some fruity undertones. I enjoyed the fiery intensity of this beer. Really delicious barley wine.

Bottle. Dark amber in color with a thick head. Strong malt and alcohol aroma. Sweet malt, caramel, and hops make up the flavors of this strong barley wine. Although, not as hoppy as some of the others that I’ve had.
