beerslayer (753), New Jersey, USA Dec 8, 2006 I think this one would be better aged some. Hoppy, bitter, and and some caramel flavors. Finishes rich, bitter, and chewy. TheBeerOrg (1563), Kentucky, USA Dec 6, 2006 Pours thick and orangish amber with a thin tan head. Aroma of grapefruit, plums, citric acidic hops, and toffee. Taste is intense, quite hoppy, malty, and alcoholic. Not very subtle, this beer just assaults your palate. Mouthfeel is heavy and resinous with lively carbonation. Very present notes of alcohol. This one needs some age to be drinkable. I don’t care for it much fresh. 1more4dessert (231), Upstate, New York, USA Nov 21, 2006 this is truely a unique speciman, the nose suggests a first rate, true to style barley wine, carmel corn, dates, molasses, the up front taste is like a first rate true to style barley wine as the olfactory cues settle on the tongue - but then the hops which love you long time. If you are a dipa fan, then this is the barley wine for you. Almost a eucalptus/menthol like quality late in the sip. Zinister (1199), Houston, Texas, USA Nov 19, 2006 Pours a dirty brown. Very sweet caramel with some great hops and grapefruit notes. Dark fruits with some vanilla. Similiar to Great Divide Hibernation, but this is tastier. SudsMcDuff (1691), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA Nov 14, 2006 This is a HUGE beer, big and very bold...not for the tenderfoots in beerland. Pours a medium murky brown orange, Has choc berries shoe polish sweet sherry sweetness. and the crazy grinding bitterness. damn..not liked by my swill lovin friends, way to full+ complex..a very nice brew that has LOTS going on...but i think some age would benefit everyone and everything on this little blue planet you and i call earth. thank u. jblendy (518), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA Nov 13, 2006 Pours cloudy amber/brown with a nice orangy/tan creamy head. Sweet caramel, and heavy floral, piny hop aroma. Heavy piny/citric hop bitterness, grapefruit, notes of dark fruit, balancing caramel malts, with hints of oak, vanilla, and fairly forward (and warming) alcohol (which is still well hidden by the body and malt profile of this beer). A whole going on in this beer. Full bodied, with a smooth creamy feel, and lasting finish. Best Barley wine style ale I’ve ever had, reminds of a full bodied DIPA, and also remniscent of Stone’s Oaked Arrogant Bastard. presario (2955), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Nov 12, 2006 Thick dark copper colour with a thin lasting head and thick lacing. Moderat dry hop and cinamon stick aroma. Very reminiscent of Devil Dancer, but with more malt sweetness. Hops are almost overpowering. More super malty IIPA than BW. Dedollewaitor (3625), Odense, Denmark Nov 11, 2006 Dark amber with fine white head. Aroma and taste of alcohol, malts & hops. Those things mentioned dominates throughout. Fine balance between the high hops and sweet malts. Great bitter lasting finish. Great divide fucks it up again, numbness from hops. Straight Power!
