shp555 (1680), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Sep 29, 2006 Dark brown color with a light tan head. Beautiful malty, spicey, hoppy aroma. The mouth feel is good but the taste. What a wonderful taste. An exquiste balance between the nice rich thick maltyness and bitter spicy hops. Leaves a wonderful hop aftertaste. Perfectly balanced barley wine. WISEGUY572 (1244), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 26, 2006 Barlewine is just not my thing. This one attempts to be interesting with a wonderful slam of citric hops and an incredibly long bitter finish. Other than that it’s pretty simple stuff, too much alcohol, sweet toffee and candy sugar, more alcohol, and that long bitter finish. Good mouth feel. Gorgeous hazy red, large offwhite head. Really nice for its type, without the cherry and bubble gum that I often associate with barleywines. Did I mention too much alcohol? sneagrams3 (1704), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Sep 24, 2006 22oz bomber. Clear and bright garnet. Milky Way white head. Sweet, sweet caramel. Toffee and a sugary fruity alcohol nose. Full and sweet body. Cola ish with a sweet caramel burnt sugar flavor. Nice burn! 10%+? MM’Good! Flavors of prunes, a little vanilla in the middle. Bready and rich. Finally got to the bottom and the dregs drag me down! Still sweet and delicious! I love me some barleys! cab (862), Denmark Sep 22, 2006 Bottel. What a Barley wine, we had it tonight with kiwi and that is a godly combination. Jukkabro (2996), Tampere, Finland Sep 22, 2006 Dark amber colored, big lasting light brown head. Is this aroma great or what: fruits, dryness, caramel, licorice, mild alcohol, hops and vinous tones. Full bodied. Flavor is also rich with caramel, medium alcohol, strong hoppiness, vinous tones, chocolate and some licorice. Aftertaste has extremely strong
bitterness. Bitterness and alcohol dominate, what a bomb this beer is! FROTHINGSLOSH (1965), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 19, 2006 Updated: Aug 27, 2007Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a lovely ruby-chestnut color with a huge tan head. The aroma is sweet molasses, pine and grapefruit. The flavor is caramel, molasses, pine, and grapefruit. There is a bitter toasted caramel note on the finish. The mouthfeel is moderately thick. A good barleywine but rather similar to several others on the market. The beer is lacking a truly distinctive element. milewide (609), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Sep 18, 2006 This is my third Barley Wine rating, and I like this the best. It’s the best balanced, neither malt sweetness or alcohol swamp the excellent hop flavor. beermouth (434), Langeskov, Denmark Sep 12, 2006 Deep amber with white/orange head. Figs, raisins, nuts, chocolate, sweet dried fruits. Hoppy and bitter.
