3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: JAN 7, 2015 Deep mahogany, amber, amazing head for 10%. Aroma is a bit smoke, some soy sauce, very boozy, but some nuttiness and a decent malt background. Aroma meets first with a hop burst, this feels a bit like a very old double ipa with a really big malt background... but itís boozy, like - really boozy, and itís kinda offputting... it has a decent hop profile, itís more towards resiny, and the malt body is quite nice, it could be a bit sweeter though, I would feel it would balance the beer out a bit more.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Dark, mahognyred, clear beer with a two finger high, beige, creamy, flyffy head.
Nose: Caramel malt, toffee, dried fruit, black pepper, red berries, vanilla and orange.
Taste: Orange peel, sweet caramel, herbs, dark fruit, apricot, syrup, raisin and hops.
Mouthfeel: Complex body with small but tingling carbonation and a great bitterness from all the hops. Long after you swallow the beer you feel the bitternes growing in your mouth. Really good!
10.2 % ABV thatís well hidden in the bitterness and hoppy taste.
This is absolutely one of my favorite barely wine.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Dec 2011. Pours a nice, deep ruby with a thin, off white head. Aroma has big notes of raisin, dark fruits, caramel, and mild hops. Taste is sweet with a subtle bitter. Caramel, bread, dark fruits, and slightly hoppy with a nice, alcohol warmth. Full body with a medium carbonation. Slightly syrupy mouth feel but tasty. Overall very nice. Sweet but not overdone. Would get again. Not sure how it would be fresh.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Hoppy, hefty barleywine. Deep copper color. Complex nose with bready sweetness giving way to hops. Some booze and raisons as well. The taste adds a hop dryness and sweet caramel malts, well balanced. Pretty nice mouthfeel, low carbonation and smooth. Great stuff.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cloudy, dark copper pour. Thin head quickly disappeared. A later, more aggressive pour made for a long lasting tan head. Very heavy, sweet, honey aroma, a hint of floral, perhaps orange blossoms. Lighter on the palate than expected, long, bitter finish. Kind of one dimensional with a sweet beginning and bitter end, not much interesting in the middle. Alcohol nicely hidden. Would I drink again? yes. Would I order again? probably not.

4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Perhaps one of the most intriguing and best aromas Iíve noted so far. Hoppy with maybe a citrus note? Not overly biting for the style, overall very well done.

Pours a brown orange with light head
Aromas of brown sugar and toasted malts
Flavors are similar with additional fruity orange and toffee notes.
Great especially since this is a tap version

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours mahogany with a pillowy head and thick lacing. Aroma is very malty and very hoppy. Caramel malt, brown sugar, piney, citrus, pungent. Flavor is thickly sweet with plenty of hops to back it up. Caramel, toast, pine resin, citrus fruit, dark dried fruit, and booze fill the flavor with some other flavors hard to describe adding to the complexity. Full bodied, rather low co2. Excellent beer in every way. Definitely in my top 5 favorite beers.
