COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Old Ruffian is a hefty, hop-forward Barley Wine. Seemingly mellow at first sniff, with its subtle fruit aromas and complex caramel sweetness, this deep mahogany-hued ale quickly shows its true character marked by bold hop flavors and massive hop bitterness. Old Ruffian’s rich, slightly creamy, caramel malt mouthfeel balances its grapefruit, pine, and floral hop flavors, working wonders on your palate.
A mind-numbing 90 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

chewy candy malt aroma, ruby colored with a massive tightly packed head, initial pleasant smokiness with some candylike maltiness before my palate was bombarded by rubbery aggressive hop bitters that lack subtlety and balance

Stor, oljig kropp. Apelsinskal, något nötig, fina brända toner och stor beska smakmässigt. Sötman är ganska tillbakahållen, vilket välkomnas. Riktigt snygg barley wine med mycket brända toner. Stor och potent och samtidigt inget slisk.

Flaska systembolaget. Eldorange kulör lätt lätt beiget skum. Humlig och klibbig doft. Torkad frukt och bränt socker. Kraftfull munkänsla med tung och fyllig maltbas. Totkad frukt, mörk sirap, spannmål och kavring. Rejäl beska

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2016 Brun /röd klar med smutsvit skum. Doftar och smakar russin och torkad frukt. Lite för spritig smak och enkelspårig för att vara riktigt bra. Mycket beska

Enjoyed on tap at Great Divide barrel room in Denver, CO while drinking a bunch of drinky dranks. Appearance is dark brown with a nice slightly off white billowy head. Aroma is mostly sweet caramel, light fruit. Taste is real good, real malty and sweet and the booze content is becoming pretty apparent. Overall good stuff.

Wow what a beer! One of the most taste intensive I have tasted. Full bodied sweetness up front with monster bitterness following. Not much aroma. Beautiful dark amber color with lots of light brown head. Man what a taste explosion! I like it!
