radiomgb (1711), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Jan 29, 2008 Orange/brown in colour, large beige coloured head, excellent retention and lacing. Aroma is quite hoppy, lots of caramel sweetness, pine, light chocolate. The flavour is again quite hoppy, piney, earthy, caramel malt sweetness, woody, toffee, very chewy. Moderately bitter mouthfeel, medium/large body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes very long, very hoppy, light alcohol, sticky. A big and chewy barleywine, lots of hops and quite sweet. Only a bit of alcohol in noticable, good balance.

Mogwai (152), Askeby, Denmark Jul 20, 2008 Bottle. (1 pint, 6 fl. oz) Pours a dark red/brown colour with off white head. Aroma is hops, malt, spices, toffee, caramel. Mouthfeel is great. Palate is slightly thick and creamy. Aroma is caramel, toffee, slight chocolate, before the hops kick in and tickles your palate and the alcohol warms up your throat and brings a couple of drops of sweat to your forehead. A lot hoppier than the previous Barley Wines I have tasted. But still a great beer! Doggythedog (919), Split, Croatia Jul 17, 2008 RBESG08 grand tasting Opaque red-brown body... bit of a gusher. Off white beige persistent head. Malty, heavy fruity nose... dusty and I didn’t like it much. Slightly sticky maltiness, American hops giving a good bitterness. Dusty, herbal, some pine, gummi bears, sweet. Tasty but not all that complicated. ogivlado (2193), Zagreb, Croatia Jul 15, 2008 Bottled(1 pint). -RBESG2008, Grand Tasting
No ABV written on the label. Muddy brown coloured, medium sized beige head, strong toffee nose. Hoppy herbal with notes of caramel, toffee and alcohol. A way too sweet. soyorganic (100), Denver, Colorado, USA Jul 14, 2008 Wow, this is an intense beer. Bottle: pours dark red color with orange hues. An intense hop aroma with small caramel notes. Initial taste consists of slightly sweet chocolate and caramel malt followed by an intense hop taste that takes over. Being a hop man I thought it was nice, and I thought this could very easily be called an imperial IPA. This beer is not for the faint of heart and must be sipped. AndrewKScott (246), Lemont, Illinois, USA Jul 10, 2008 This is a pretty great barley wine. I’m on a barley wine kick lately and I’m not sure why. Looks sexy when it pours, a rich mahogany with an off white head. Aroma had a lot of hops, a lot of malt, and a lot of alcohol. The flavor, unsurprisingly, was similar. There was a lot of caramel, some wood, and some chocolate. finish is long, dry, and had a lot of alcohol. This is a great barley wine, and fulfilled my knack for something really hoppy.
