COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Orabelle is brewed with barley, wheat, and rye. This Belgian-style tripel is a golden beauty. Its two yeast strains, orange peel, and dash of corriander impart suprising complexity and richness to this delicate ale. Don’t let ORABELLE’s nature fool you, this is one flavorful brew. Watch out, she’s a charmer- one sip and you’ll be in love.

Bottle. Hazy pale with ring and little lace. Fruity banana yeasty esters and a little coriander spice. Pineapple sweet fruitiness with herbal spicy dry finish with a little citrus. Fairly well attenuated medium light body. Very good but doesn’t need so much coriander.

Bottle. Cloudy gold with a short white head. Fruit notes abound with lots of yeast, candy notes, sweet malt, flowers and spice in the aroma. Taste is candied citrus, ripe fruits, yeast, sweet malt, flowers, grains and spice. Body is medium with a strong, prickly carbonation. Ends with more strong yeast, ripe fruits, candied citrus, soft bready malts, grains spice and flowers.

1/31/2014: Great Divide Orabelle... Trademark Beligan Tripel spiked with too much coriander; far too sweet for my preference; strong, but the alcohol isn’t completely obvious. Draught sample at Whole Foods in Mason, Ohio. Rating #175 for this beer.

Pours bright hazy yellow with thin head that diminishes quickly. Smells like crackers and hay. Taste comes off more like a Belgian golden than a trippel. The coriander and orange peel do not dominate and the beer is much less sweet than most trippels. Solid beer.

(bottle) Pours a hazy light yellow/gold color with a scant white head that leaves a ring around the glass. Aroma of honey butter spread on toast, orange marmalade, peeks of coriander, light bubblegum, and even more bread. Little bit of hoppiness too and perhaps a flash of vanilla but that might be a reach. Pretty breakfasty though. The toast spread aspect is really a nice feature. Taste has more prominent bubblegum right up front and thankfully that honey butter on toast feature has carried over into the flavor dept. Some orange peel and coriander shine through on the finish before being replaced by a tandem of drying hops and bready yeast. The orange really begins to emerge as this warms both in aroma and flavor. The abv is expertly masked here, and this drinks more like a 5-6% beer, although the heft of it on the palate is a slight tell. Overall, I don’t normally care much for these Blue-Moonesque type concoctions, but when they’re done this well, I’ll gladly make an exception.

I am totally confused by this beer. It has a Metamucil powder glow to it. Zero head. Lacks the hops and maltiness specified. The booze is not there, well hidden or non-existent. Seems more like a simple Saison, than a Belgian Style Ale. For example, Adelbert’s Triple B seems like a better representation of where this same brew was heading. Major disappointment as their brews are typically on the money.

Light straw color. Light spice, yeast, bread. Fairly thin body, balanced finish. Not sweet or cloying. Very nice easygoing tripel.

The color is a cloudy yellow color with a large white head, and the aroma is sweet in the nose due to the Belgian yeast and a sweet fruitiness. The taste fuses a slight sourness and a mild sweetness that is enticing, and the palate has an interesting blend of a thick texture, subtle yet long finish, average carbonation, and a medium body, which ties everything together nicely.

Apricot and coriander nose. Cloudy golden, thin head. Full body. Lemon and coriander flavor. Fruity esters fade revealing a nice light maltiness. Alcohol well concealed. Dangerously good.

12 ounce bottle from Wine Warehouse, Charlottesville. Pours a hazy lemon yellow color with a thin frothy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of dry citrus, nuts, oats, pale malts and a bit of pith. The taste is sweet malts, spice, caramel, honey, building citrus in the finish. Medium bodied, low carbonation, good balance. Solid beer.
